Can these two say anything bad about any player on the yankees? Cant They Just be honest when someone is having a bad day??? When Kei Igawa pitched Sterling was saying besides the hits he gave up to score the runs, he has pitched a good game... And Waldman agrees... When A reporter said he's been awful Sterling reiterated his piont. Then there killing The Redsox for Papolbon getting 5 outs when he is only supposed to pitch the 9th.... Who cares... Time for these guys to go... Its Torcher to listen to....

agreed...as a lifetime die hard Mets fan, now located in ATL (great not to have to hear that crap anymore), it's brutal to listen to the media talk about the Yankees. The bias is incredible. Amazing how they all forget that Yankee Stadium was half empty befor the mid-90's...another 1st round exit folks..time to up the payroll to 300 mil..

Ya gotta be kidding me! I had no ideas he was the (urp!) "Voice of the Yankees". I thought he was doing the morning cattle report in Greater Outer-Eastern Dingleberry, Montana or something. He was HORRIBLE when he was an announcer for the Braves. He has all the syle of howler monkey and the insight of a dung beatle. Other than that, nice guy...makes his own clothes.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

John Sterling has to be the worst radio announcer going. Not only is he a shill for the Yankees, he's annoying and mediocre at his craft. Case in point. A couple years back I'm listening to a Yankees-Red Sox game. Boston has the bases loaded with one out in the sixth inning of a close game, and let's say Kevin Millar was at the plate. Millar hits a drive to left-center and Hideki Matsui makes a diving catch. John Sterling and his then broadcasting partner Charlie Steiner engage in a vocal aerobics contest to see which one can sing Matsui's praises the loudest and wittiest. They're so busy lauding this spectacular catch by Matsui that they didn't even bother to inform the listeners whether any of the runners tagged up! Hey fellas, I know you don't care about the Red Sox fans in your listening audience, but wouldn't you think that the Yankee fans would want to know if a run had scored on the play?! To add to the absurdity, I saw Matsui's 'incredible' play on Sportscenter that evening; it was a fine catch, but not exactly play of the year material.

Figures that loser Met and Red Sox fans would be chiming in about the Yankee radio crew. Why don't you listen to your own teams broadcast? Sterling is the voice of the Yankees.

and to the Met fan talking about a 300 mil payroll and 1st round ousters, did I miss something or didn't the Mets NOT even make the world series last yeAR and the Red sox didnt sniff the playoffs after the Yankees waxed them for 5 games in August.

Met fans are so jealous it is funny. Nice move by Willie yesterday letting Burgos pitch to Howard.

What a surprise, another frontrunning Yankee fan spouting out arrogance. It's OK though, I've been hearing it since about 94. Of course the sense of entitlement didn't exist before then, and the vast majority of "diehard" Yankee fans were out at Shea cheering on the Mets.

every radio announcer can be expected to be a bit of a homer, hold back criticism of the organization or its players, try to please his or her bosses and not to make enemies of the fan base. But John Sterling is a buffoon. Seriously. The guy is really good at making a spectacle of himself, and absolutely terrible at educating the fans about baseball or describing the game itself. His anecdotes can be summed up as "I remember a story about me."

And I'm a Yankees fan.

Does anyone remember who was a bit before Sterling???

Anyone remember Phil Rizzuto??

Can't be more of a homer than the Scooter was.

Sterling can't hold a candle to him in that department.

I think we Yankee fans fail to realize how much he sides because we were so used to Phil.

Oh, come on! The guy's a freakin riot! He is so bad he's funny. I try to picture in my mind what is actually happening on the field while he is off on some tangent with Susan.

He reminds me of some burned out high school teacher with tenure who is just gonna talk about what he wants to talk about, not giving a darn if you learn anything or not.

I'm a Yankee hater, but I do watch and listen to alot of Yankee games just because it's baseball. But who cares if he's a homer???? The homers are the best ones to listen to. Listening to Ron Santo this afternoon moan during the Cub game, Hawk Harrelson and his buddy singing their little home run thing for the White Sox - that's the whole charm of it. I wish there were more of 'em if you ask me.
Happy Recap

Just to let you know Im not a front running redsox or mets fan..... Im a diehard yankees fan! I know as a baseball fan that no player is good all the time... all I want is honest baseball anouncing... thats easy to listen too...

Scooter and Sterling had the same problem a distorted view of reality, but scooter had an excuse.... He was old... Plus didnt you like when he talked about canoles or saying happy birth to 100 people because he thought it was helping a yankee rally....LOl I love the scooter.... Holy Cow!!!!!!

As Far as Susan she has the same altered reality sterling does... But what I hate most is how she changes common lingo to make what she thinks is proper... Like RBI's Turns into R'sBi or when she reads the stats about how a player hit on a monday in april after 5 pm during a full moon under 30 degrees... LOL

Why cant Marv Albert do baseball... He was a great radio guy with the knicks I can see it... A-rod at the plate... The pitch ... Yes ... A-Rod goes down town and the yankees take a 1 run lead.. A majestic shot by Alex Rodriguez...

Sterling and Suzyn Waldman are terrible, just brutal to listen to. I love how Suzyn talks about the players like she's best friends with them, it's so weak. Not to mention this is a woman who grew up a RED SOX FAN!!!.....but now shes bleeds blue & white, hilarious.

Kay stinks on TV too. I like guys like Kaat, Mercer, Girardi, Flaherty, and Singleton isn't bad either.

By the way, I'm a Dodgers fan but I live in NYC so it's tough not to watch or hear the Yanks.

Sterling/Waldman worst duo on radio and I am a Yankee fan for pure radio enjoyment no better than the METS announcers those guy keep you in the game.

As to TV I think Joe Buck is the man and the voice I enjoy listening to also is VINCE SCULLY great announcer! You enjoy watching a game when these guys are behind the mike.

But the whole Yankee crew both TV and Radio have to go bring back Scooter so he can tell me what Resturants to go eat at, he was funny! These guys Kay and co are just boring I cannot watch a Yankee game because of these guys, sad but true.
