I predict Hank Aaron WILL show up for Barry Bond's record breaking home run...or at least to a game when it COULD take place. (after being tied, or a game before tying)

I've watched him in interviews...and he gives a vibe of jealousy toward his record being broken in general...and more-so by Bonds.

I think the closer it gets to that day...the more he will come to peace with Bonds passing him in the record books.

I feel he will alter his stance, and respectfully join the event...along with Willie Mays and others.

~Lance I'll book that one, Lance. Same as our side?

I feel that Hank isn't jealous as much as he is tired of the hoopla already. I'm guessing he'll be on a golf course somewhere when the record is broken. Of course Barry is only renting the record until ARod flies by him.

Naaaa, Dan...not willing to bet on it, but I feel the closer it gets...the more pressure will build...and good feelings will overcome Hank, and he'll do the right thing.

Like Bonds or hate him...he's still a monster talent...and even though he's been pitched around and walked for years and years...and been hurt as well...he's still done what it takes to break that record. Roids were EVERYWHERE during that part of baseball history...I'd not be surprised if A-rod also tried it.

I have to agree with Sportsbettingman, (although I'm a little surprised he would turn down a bet!!!) :D :D :D

I think Aaron will feel some pressure from Selig. Also, by being passed, it draws some attention to one of the most underrated players of all time.

As for Bonds, I'd be happy to see pitchers begin giving him the Clemens-Piazza treatment...

There is no way in heck that Hammerin' Hank shows up... He is so upset about losing his record to a guy that is a known steriod user, that he will not show up. I would bet a solid dollar on that one, and another dollar that the commish doesnt show either . LOL

Commish will definitely show. Choice is obvious- if he shows nothing bad can be said about him.

My bet is no way in a million years hank Aaron shows. He may be jealous- more likely he is bitter because he knows Bonds is juiced.

If neither one shows it will be because both are making the statement that Bonds is steroidal but only one of them will be accused of being a racist for not showing.

Mr. Aaron will not be there.

Hank Aaron breaks the HR record of perhaps the most famous baseball player of all time as well as the most popular. He plays in an era of extreme racial tension. He indures virilant hatred and death threats. He does so with class and distinction while playing in the deep south in the late sixties/early seventies. Hank Aaron is a real man.

Barry Bonds, however, cracked under the pressure of his own bloated self image. He was a good (not great) OF (though I have seen better arms on a bean bag chair) for a few years and could have been considered one of the greats if he had been able to play "clean" for a few more years. He chose to sneak in the back door of the pharmacy and cheat. He uses performance enhancing drugs, and lies about it. Barry Bonds does not belong in the same zip code as Hank Aaron. Barry Bonds lacks the character and (natural) ability that a true great like Hank Aaron has. Bonds does not belong in the record books or the Hall of Fame. Barry Bonds is a loser of the first order.

However, after reading the entire thing (without peeking), I said "I'll bet this guy is from the south". Sure enough....ATLANTA! ;)

I wouldn't worry about it too much, as A-Rod will be the all-time HR king in about 10-11 more years.

Im going to have to disagree with the king. Barry Bonds was a great player. The steriods turned his 50 doubles a year in 40 more homeruns. Barry would have been a hall of famer reguardsless. But spectulation has him using steriods becuase of the focus on Mcgwire and Sosa. There he ruined his hall of fame career because of jealous.

Yes, I am a self-avowed homey, but I would feel the same way about the gulf between a player the calibre of Aaron and a schmuck such as Bonds no matter where I was from.

Foot, I hear what you are saying, but if you read my post, it recognizes that Bonds had some good years. In my mind, what separates the "good" all-star calibre players (not every player who has ever been selected to an all-star game makes it to the Hall) is their ability to perform at that high level for many years over at least a majority of their careers.

Bonds could not do that without a little help. The best thing for baseball would be for his knee to finally blow out and for Barry to become an embarrassing little boil on the underside of baseball history.

And Pujols will be the all-time HR king about 5 years after that!

the differences between Pujols ans Arod are obvious...Pujols is as clutch as they get (who can forget his blast of Lidge-certainly not lidge) and Pujols is loved by most (especially in hometown) and AROD is hated by most all(especially at home)
