Can anyone help me?

GG NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!!

You all know I'm trying to put together the $100,000 Empire this year and I'm having some trouble. Here's what's going on...

In looking a little deeper into lineups I'm looking for input/suggestions/help/etc with determining which player gets the majority of at bats in the following situations ...i put who i think the morning line favorite is in each case in ()

1B Yankees (Giambi?)

2B Rockies (M.Giles?)

2B Twins (Punto?)

3B Giants (???)

I will have a few more questions over the course of the next few weeks, and I will try and reward the person with the best answers and supporting information.

My personal opinion is that three of the four there are TBD and only spring training will answer. Steinbrenner's comments that the Yanks are "satisfied" with there situation (i.e. Giambi) at 1B is smoke. Anything else at this time is not worth the time it takes for conjecture.

However, on the Rockies 2B, I am betting on Ian Stewart (say 75% of AB, but no numbers to back it up...gut feel). I am also betting that Giles breaks camp NOT on the Rockies MLB roster.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I am also betting that Giles breaks camp NOT on the Rockies MLB roster. 20 million reasons why Steinbrenner would say that about Giambi. He's probably trying to will Giambi to be worth even a portion of that contract.

I agree that Giles won't be on the Rockies roster, 2nd base for the Rockies may be a merry-go-round for awhile and a position I would stay away from.

Punto, eh, does it matter? Free agent material for those in dire need of stolen bases.

Here's the winner, I am betting that the Giants sign Feliz and he'll put up even less than his usual dull numbers with that lineup and a bundle in his back pocket. If that doesen't happen they'll probably trade and overpay a Rolen or Crede type of player. :(

If the A's and Giants combined teams in the Bay Area this year would they be the favorites in either of their divisions?

I will only address the Twins 2B situation since I have been following it locally. According to Twins management, this position is open for competition but Punto has a heads up going into spring training.

The Twins would love to see Casilla play there and lead off or bat 2nd depending on who they get to play CF, but so far he has not proven that he can do either by making bone head plays in the field and his hitting leaves a lot to be desired. Worse yet, he is not exactly the best pupil. But once he gets on base, he is a threat to run at any time.

If the Twins feel they need more offense, then Harris is their man but his range is very limited and the Twins love defense at 2B, particularly with the average range at 1B and now limited range at 3B where Lamb will play.

That leaves the most experienced of the bunch, Punto, but he could not hit a lick last year and he is a head case when it comes to hitting, the worse he hits the more pressure he feels to hit and it is a downward spiral. But the man can play in the field. Punto will give you some SB and some runs if he plays but that is about it, he makes a better ML player then a fantasy player because of his versatility. He has played every position with the Twins except catcher and pitcher.

Bottom line, Gardenhire has always played the hot player and I think that will be the case here until Casilla can prove he deserves the job. I think Punto opens the season there. About the time you think someone has won the 2B job and you pick him up, Gardy will bench him and he will sit for the next 4 days. I think this is a position to avoid in the draft but Casilla might be worth a flier late in the draft if you need SB.

can only help with the Yankees ...Giambi will play vs most righties with S Duncan playin vs most lefties and Betemit getting sometime there vs both ...Betemit is the best fielder of the 3 and will probably be a defensive replacement a lot whne the yanks are up and will steal a lot of abs from the other 2...now with all that being said if Giambi actually hits he could get more PT vs lefties but that seems unlikely..or that he won't get hurt at some point...

Naaa.

After looking over both teams...there could be a nice pitching staff...but the offense would be UGLY!

A bunch of old timers or super young.

Yuck.
