Totally agree with you on Utley. He to me is a steal at 8 or up. I have seen him go 12th in some drafts. Batting 3rd in line up with Rollins and Victorino in front plus Howard protecting him. Hitters Park Facing Marlins Nats and an average Brave pitching staff. Miggy is great do not get me wrong Batting 5th Pitchers park not familiar with pitching in AL Think RBIS Miggy wins Average will be a lot closer Runs Homers SB think Utley wins Plus position scarcity OF numbers at 2b how can you go wrong.

Utley actually went 13th in a satellite I did last week, and of course I was salivating at #14! "Settled" for Santana.

I agree Utley is a great pick, and honestly between him and Cabrera you can't go wrong. That is why 8 is a pretty nice spot to be in, as you are guaranteed one of those two, OR someone "better" like Rollins or Holliday if they slip.

After 8 it gets pretty dicey IMO, although there are still VERY good players still on the board.

Just don't take him at #2 Mike! It would ruin my whole draft. :D

I have Cabrera and Holliday having monster years. Besides BA (which I have one at .330+ and the other at .315+) it is not like they are playing in pretty stacked line-ups as well.

I am very high on Utley, but have Cabrera and Holliday coming in with higher counting stats (except SB for Cabrera and about equal for Holliday) and both Cabrera and Holiday with have higher BA's. To each his own. None of the three would be a mistake.

Utley is in a beautiful lineup, that's true...but nothing has improved from last year...so he's fairly predictably great.

Cabrera has gone from a weak lineup with a guy the caliber of Willingham as his "protection", and thus, got the IBB pass 27 times. That will not happen in DET with an Ordonez type hitter protecting him. (Utley only had 1 IBB)

I think Cabrera has more power, and could hit 40HR, and I do not think Utley will hit more than 28.

Either guy is a solid round one pick.

~Lance I agree Lance, but then you have to factor in "position scarcity".

How many 2B are going to hit 28+ HR's, score 100 runs, get 100 RBI's, and hit for a .300+ avg.?

Answer....ONE

This puts them pretty much in a "dead heat" IMO, and it is pretty much which one you prefer as you can't go wrong with either.
Phillips his .288 last year, A repeat of that and 30 SB again along with 30-94 and he's just as valuable as Chase, if not a tad more.

Yes, Holliday has way more value than either.
1) Depends on who you took Rd 1.

2) Depends on how good you are at building a staff.

3) Depends on who you expect rd 3.

I'm at pick 25, and will take him if he falls..
