Yesterday, Gordon started a thread about who will be the biggest flops of the year or the overstuffed pigs.

Today, how about the Hungry Wolves. The players that went consistently in double digit rounds this year, who will be drafted in the single digits next year.

Yunel Escobar- The ball jumps off his bat, like a right handed Cano. Like Cano the power will be slow to come but a batting championship wouldn't surprise me.

Justin Upton- five tools and still a baby, this will be his growth year, next year get on the bandwagon

Aaron Hill- Will probably outperform Kendrick and Weeks in most categories this year. If not for the depth of the position, he'd be in single digits this year

Phil Hughes- Dynamite stuff on a good hitting team = wins and thats this year. Next year after refining the skills he will be close to the upper echelon of pitchers.

Connor Jackson- The average is a given and the power is coming. Rumored to be hitting third in a great lineup without sharing time, he'll be good this year, killer next.

Billy Butler- A lot like Connor Jackson only I think the power starts coming a year earlier. Again, average is a given.

Kevin Kouzmanoff- Different ballpark and he would be single digits this year. 25/100/.290 moves him to single digits anyway.

Joba Chamberlain- 200 innings of that nasty stuff?

No, I did not forget the current wonderdarlings Cueto and Milledge, just do not think they'll progress as others do.

Who'd I forget? Anybody else have a list?

A guy I'll put on there only because he was drafted very late in most leagues, if at all, Chase Headley.

I can definitely see him going from mid-late 20's this year to 11-13 next year.

Good list Dan! I agree with many and in particular KK, Hill & Billy Butler. In fact, I am going to send you John Lackey's address so you can fire off a thank you card. Had I not gotten wind that Lackey was hurt I would have beat you to Butler, as it were I had to go SP where I intended to go BB.

There is a new set of 'Joba Rules' in play for 2008. He will not come close to 200 innings this season. The Yankees have set a cap on his innings at 150 (or 140, don't recall which). He will begin the season in the bullpen; the plan is to shift him to the starting rotation in mid-season.

My "Biased" list would agree with most of yours, and add...

Alex Gordon (Not sure of his NFBC ADP, but it may have been 10th round)

Jacoby Ellsbury (If his PT goes up, and his avg. stays over .300)

Brad Lidge (If he can turn back the clock a bit)

Cameron Maybin (What he shows in the majors and minors this year will boost way up him for 2009)

Kevin No offense, but what is your point? These are guys who will be in single digit rounds in 2009.

Longoria is headed to the minors didnt Crazy get this news or are you hearing someting [jamica man] different.I think Bourn can be a 4th round pick next year just like Pierre and Pods in their prime. I say 70 steals and 100 runs and a 280 bavg.

Hafner will be a 2nd roundpick again next year with a monster season this year. 45 dingers and 120 rbi's and his 300 bavg.

I want to add Pat Burrell to that list. But common sense is preventing me. But 30-100 in the 10th and beyond, not too bad. In a contract year to boot.

Kevin Dang Dan if you just would have know Joba was going to start the year in the pen you would have never included him.

Regardless of where he starts the year. If he gets sent down, my guess is they'll call him back up within a few weeks.

He could be their 3rd best offensive player as soon as this year. Yes, better than Carlos Pena (who I don't think breaks .255 BA this year)

I have a hunch, but I see Nate McLouth being this year's version of Shane Victorino if given the playing time he deserves.

I also think that Rafeal Soriano, JR Towles, Zach Grienke and Eric Aybar move up.

I really like Kuroda in that you're not drafting a rookie per say. He's a seasoned vet, has good stuff and has a "bulldog" demeanor on the mound. Pitches in a great park. I really think he's going to be solid this year. A nice 4th starter for any fantasy team.

My bold prediction: 3.50 e.r.a. - 14 wins - 1.22 whip - 150 K's.

I really think he'll surprise. I expect him to struggle a little out of the gate. I think he'll improve as the season goes on as he gets used to all the nuances of major leagues.

yeah crazy, I really liked that pick because I named off someone that was drafted that was my fault and I was runnin gout of time and thought he was gone and just asked if he was gone..they said no so the 19th round I was happy with it....We will have Sabathia, Verlander, Sheets and Arroyo fronting him with Guthrie as a 6th clunker....

I've got a $300 entry league where I've got Johan, Verlander, Gallardo, Hughes, Garza, Parra, Patterson with Hoffman/Jones at closer.

Bench: Volquez, Gordon, Piniero

I picked Todd Jones over B.J. Ryan based on who I thought would have more saves. I felt like my peripherals will be strong enough to withstand the lack of K's coming out of Hoffman/Jones.

I really struggled with that decision, I hope it's the right one.

Dave, if you meant Ankiel making single digits in '09, no, as far as I am concerned.

thanks crazy..that looks like a pretty stacked staff you have in the 300.....its nice to not have to chase pitching if you can back them up also with 2 decent closers..we were lucky to get 2 that have jobs and one that I feel is dominant from watching him pitch a lot...corpas and borowski.....we missed on kobayashi at the end but will have to waiver a closer who can get us 20-30 saves maybe...
