It is now being reported a calf injury, so there goes the 40sb's we Soriano owners were praying for.

if anyone though soriano was getting 40sb this year, they have no business in the nfbc. even 20 was a stretch.

A prayer is exactly that a prayer. Did anyone really think he was getting 40sb's, no but you can pray for it. Understand all knowing guy? Man you are a piece of work! I wonder why Greg and Tom don't just close up the season and hand you the fricking crown with how much better you are then everyone! I have seen cocky and arrogant, but you sir, you take the cake. Take a page from guys who have a much better track record then you and learn a little tact. People are capable of adding their two cents without attempting to make the person you are commenting to look like they are an idiot. It takes a very shallow man to talk to people the way you do!!!

Sorry Greg and Tom for my rant, but as I am sure most will attest to you can only handle so much of this guy without finally deciding to let him know how you feel after he so often and honestly let's you know his take. Tired of biting my tongue!

I think it's a little of both.
I thought he had a real chance to steal 40 bases. All we knew at the time of the early drafts was that the team instructed him to run at 80% during the offseason to make sure he could heal properly from his quad he injured 7 months prior.

He did have 41 stolen bases in 2006, so projecting 35-40 IF healthy I think is fairly reasonable. Why not? He certainly loves stealing bases as he openly talked about the possibility of hitting 40/40 this season.

I agree with you Hardheads. Half the time I think Gekko is talking out of his azz and other half I think he really doesn't know what he's talking about. I appreciate well thought out observations and insights instead of brash opinions.

I drafted him as the overall 19th pick in a February satellite, and thought the value was too hard to pass up.

That being said, I was looking at like 30-20 from him, as I KNEW his steals would go down even if he was healthy (which at the time he was iffy with a hamstring).

I have yet to hear anything about an achilles, but I can tell you if it is an achilles, that isn't good.

I tore mine (didn't even rupture it), and I couldn't even walk for a month.

Not good at all.

Not good at all. that was a good projection bwaz. Basestealing is hard on the body, he has his big contract, his wheels are showing wear and tear... there's simply no need to try to push 30 across the board anymore.

Not good at all. He was 33/17 from May 1st on last year so he's still got some juice left. I don't see why he can't atleast steal 20 bases the rest of the way. You still might hit the 30 homer/20 steal projection. Soriano is a streaky hitter who should thrive in that lineup.
Soriano is a lot like Beltran right now. The hope is there for the old magic but the injuries are not only affecting the physical part of the game but mental as well. Both do not respond to being hurt very well.

Cubs management should have a talk with Soriano. Tell him that he won't be leading off and that stolen bases should only come in certain situations. It's the last thing fantasy players want to hear, but if they have this guy under contract for the next seven years they should be protecting their investment.

Reality, Soriano will come back, lead off, and take two or three weeks to hit his hitting stride. As for stolen bases, Soriano owners should cringe with every attempt. Another injury is most likely imminent.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
