Would you allow this trade??

Post by GOD Loves You » Tue Jun 10, 2008 7:36 am

12 team, standard 5X5

Jeff Francouer

for

Chris Young(S.D.)

Francouer team needs a ton of pitching help and can afford to lose offense.

Young team needs any hitting stats and can afford to "lose" pitching stats.

Even though Young doesn't have a set timetable to return, does anyone feel the need to veto this??

Thanks in advance.

Tough call, but maybe force them to wait until Young is a week or so away to be safe, then allow it.

Young could be out a while.

I don't see a problem. The team getting Young is taking a risk, but a calculated one.

The team getting Francouer is banking on a regression to the mean in regards to power and rbi's, another calculate risk.

Every league is different, but I wouldn't think this would be a voidable trade.

Certainly wouldn't veto it, as I could see myself on both sides of that trade.

If I had Francouer I wouldn't do it, but I would not object to it either.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

How about this one in my home league , it is a keeper league . Miggy Cabrera and Nick Swisher for Carlos Gomez and Travis Hafner, now Gomez is 21 and a so call keeper but i dont see him going much more than 21.Hafner is hurt which makes even worse since Swisher is picking it up.We are an 11 man league and got 3 veto's but you need 5.This trade went thru 2 week's ago and this team is in first.I dont like first place teams dealing with last place teams as this is their 2nd trade in two weeks.

The other was the first place team got Tori Hunter for Cliff LEE who is 2 bucks and Masterson who is a couple buck's.I didnt veto this one.Still a few teams arent happy with the combo of trades between these teams.

Thanks for the answers so far. I didn't see anything wrong with the trade either, but so far there's been 3 objections.

Who am I to stop a person from making a stupid trade?? I've always thought it was our job to prevent possible collusion when vetoing trades, nothing else....unless it's BEYOND lopsided.

Eddie, I would never object to any trades in a keeper league, regardless of the players and owners involved.

don't believe in veto'ing trades in a home league where everybody knows everybody.
