Didn't Gregg get picked in the 11th rd in your league? 19th rd for us and surprised he was still on the board... Now whether or not he keeps the job is a different story.

Marmol is a monster look at the k's he put up last year to innings pitch.Gregg comes over from another team and gets the job.Marmol has to be pissed at big Lou not being loyal to him.I did stay away from Marmol just because this could happen and did.

I took Marmol in 9th and in retrospect should have taken Wilson. Was going to hand cuff in 19th round but Gregg was taken in the 18th not the 20th round. Thought I could wait till the 19th but needed a SP and they were flying off the table. Bad management maybe but really thought Lou would give the kid the job outright, not only because he is a better pitcher but felt team chemistry would be an issue. Lot of hispanic players on Cubs and felt it would set a bad precedent by giving a FA pick up the job over someone who could be special for years. Have no regrets since his numbers will be solid and not sold on Gregg holding the job. Saves will be available during course of the year like always Stll thought Marmol in 9th on the premise he would be the closer had huge upside. Still think once Gregg has a couple of blown ones Lou will pull him just as fast as ne named him in all of 9 innings of spring. Just an opinion

Hey John

Hope you did well in Orlando. They were referring to me since I am in same league as dirt dogs. You got Gregg in 20th. I was thought I could hand cuff Marmol with Gregg in 19th but some one took him in 18th not the 20th like the poster mentioned. Great hand cuff and the round you got him at even better. Sure you will do well this year

Good Luck

Marty

Marmol is the new Dotel. Great arm, great k totals. But not closer material.

Lou isn't stupid. Crazy, yes. Stupid, no.

Lou isn't stupid. Crazy, yes. Stupid, no. A lot of it is opportunity. Was Broxton not closer material when Saito was there? Is Saito not closer material now that he's healthy? What about K-rod when Percival was in LA?

That being said, I've heard Marmol doesn't handle the 9th inning pressure as well as he does the 7th or 8th inning. Not sure I buy into that, but I've heard that before.

[/QUOTE]I really think Lou knows what he is doing. Which is trying to win ballgames. After my homework tonight I looked up Marmol Stats. I noticed he pitched a lot of games where he went more than one inning. I think Marmol is the better pitcher. And Lou wants his best pitcher in the 7th and 8th inning.

Paulina Exactly, Paulina is on it. Marmol is better in the setup role, Gregg is better as the closer.

Marmol wanted to close and believed he was next in line to close.Lou picked Gregg for the reasons Kimo mentioned which is he can go more than an inning in the important 7th and 8th inning. But as far as Marmol is concerned could someone please pull the knife out of his back which big Lou stuck him with.
