Musings from last nights Astros/Dodgers game

Post by Cooperstown » Fri Apr 24, 2009 7:05 am

A few things caught my eye while at the game last night.

Watching Orlando Hudson play defense is worth the price of admission.

Berkman's swing looks like he's fighting an injury. Could be a tough year for Berkman owners.

Tejada is as locked in as it gets. Maybe putting the steroid issue, the age issue and the lying to Congress issue behind him has really helped. He looks like the good hitting will continue.

Kemp goes from 1st to 3rd as fast as anyone I've seen. And if he's unhappy about batting 7th, it didn't show.

Billingsley had some filthy stuff last night.

Broxton got an impressive 5 out save while hitting 100 mph twice.

Furcal opened the game by fouling a high popup that was caught, but wait, it hit the roof beam in foul territory and even though it was caught, it was a foul ball. He walked and scored after that, providing the only run of the game charged to Wandy. The bad part of this for Wandy owners is that there was no reason the roof should have been closed. It was a nice 75 degrees last night and the roof should have been open. And if it had, Wandy would not have given up a run.

Cecil Cooper's (no relation) favorite movie is Glory. You just never know what you'll find out between innings.

And finally, to the young lady to my right with the short skirt and too tight blouse; thank you for being there.

I will be at the sox/yks game tomorrow to watch Beckett VS Burnett. Looking forward to one of the premier pitching matchups YTD.

I can only hope there are a few skirts in my row, hell it's supposed to be 80 so it might be a great day

PS To all you frustrated Encarnacion owners out there...last night he had an at bat where he looked like John Kruk versus Randy Johnson in the All-Star Game years ago. Totally lost and pathetic to the point of comical.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
