god- i agree. plus- to me there are 2 ways to play fantasy- understand the value and or really get a handle on breakout players. in football i am pretty good at the former and ok at the latter. being a value player- i have done exactly one baseball draft- a $250 satelite last year. 1 player i liked for late value was hanly ramirez and i waited on steals because i figured he would get 30-35- even if everything else fell apart. someone took him in 15th round- i was hoping for 16th. trying to get the value cost me the championship. tough call on when to take a guy you like.

Good point. That Opportunity Cost could go both ways. It did not cost me any championships, but I decided to wait "...one more round..." until the 20th round before picking up Dave Roberts who had flown under the radar up to that point. He went before the draft got back to me. Well, at least I got fortunate enough to pick up Luis Matos and Jeremy Reed to solve my little SB problem!

It is a good pick here. I was determined not to pick him in this mock to see how others valued him, but if this were for real, I still would not have picked him in the first ten rounds. I burned myself with Prior last year.

He's got a big contract, he's a veteran, and he actually had excellent post-Break numbers last year: 30IP, 1.80ERA, 1.06WHIP, 14 Saves. And that was during the Tigers terrible second half swan dive. He just can't strike anybody out (28 K's in 68IP).

I really like both Zumaya and Rodney, and I think that either one will be the closer in '08. But at least for now, I think Jones is the guy (hell, they stuck with him through his first half last year when his ERA was almost 6 and WHIP was over 1.5).

[/QUOTE]Odds are in his favor early on, but with Rodney and Zumaya more proven going into this season, and with Tiger expectations high, I don't think it would take a lot to get for him to get yanked (or possibly traded) if he goes thru a tough stretch.
