The way it seems to go is the big K guys go early. You can get good pitchers that will get you wins and be decent in era and whip late. They don't strike out anybody though. I've tried shuffling pitchers in and out to get 2 starts and still have not been able to compete in K's. Will alter my strategy at least slightly this year to get more K's.

That would be Brad.

K's are tough. Think about it. Say you have six starters. Each get 150 K's. That is only 900 and we have established our target at 1200, so that leaves 300 between at least two closers (unless you ditch saves) and a seventh swing guy.

For the starters, say you want six to get at least 150 K for the year. There were only 39 who did that in 2006. The average among that 39 is of course higher than 150, but you get the picture. The pool is not that big.

On the relievers, of the 25 who 20+ saves last year, only 10 recorded 75 or more K's. Say you do pretty good there and get 150 between the two.

So, where does that leave you. If you use only two closers, chances are you are middle of the pack in saves. As to your other seven pitching slots, if you average 200 IP, you would need 75% K/IP (7 x 200 = 1400 * .75 = 1050 K plus the 150 from your two closers = 1200 K).

Nothing to it. :D

It hasn't worked, but that is why I have avoided guys like Lieber and Hudson. They can help other places, but you are potentially digging a whole in K's.

I was considering Sanchez for my next pick. Doughboys is routinely taking the guys I am considering next. So, at 17-2 I will take John Maine SP Mets. it doesn't look like i can set up a draft for tomorrow (Tuesday) as I haven't heard from Jason Pimel about our passes yet. Sorry, we'll try for next week or something.

I debated between Sanchez and Peralta, only reason I went Peralta is I wanted to see where Sanchez went.

Solid pick where he went!

Thanks for the help guys. I forgot how to get in since last year and wasn't sure it was open to us yet anyway. Got in though. There's 2 drafts already set up for nfbc. Tomorrow (Tuesday) and Friday. Let's see if we can fill them with nfbc guys. Good practice and fun too.
