OK, we are at the 24 hour mark. Anyone want to make a pick for the Berkshire Juggernaughts?

I hate to make a pick for him, but let's try to stick to the 24hr rule (sooner hopefully). Delmon Young seems to fit his team so let's go with him. If Berkshire checks in before the next pick please feel free to change your pick.

Sorry, dude! I am really not that high on Beltre, but I am trying a specific draft strategy and I needed a third baseman. He was probably the most "predictable" one left.

No offense, Wayne, and I know this is only a mock, but Posada in the 7th and a guy that you're not high on in the 8th? I think you have found a way to zap all the fun out of a draft! :D

Could you pm me the outline of this strategy. I'm curious.

No implication at all, Wayne. Just saying it's never fun taking someone that you're not high on.

Although when I select a catcher this year, it won't be because I was high on him. :D

[/QUOTE]I mean no offense either and please don't take this badly, but I smell a Shandlerism. You have to take 1 catcher and your corners etc.

Caught me! :D

This is/has been a strategy that Ron has suggested but of course it has been out there a long time (i.e. the notion that you can get more value at OF and SP in rounds 10-20 than you can pick up by getting you MI or CM in rounds 10-20). To my knowledge, Shandler has never prositioned anything as absolute as far as strategy goes, but rather targeted this as a go-in strategy and amending based on what the rest of the teams are doing.

Personally, I see this stragey as a fit for drafts with 12 or fewer teams (most of the fantasy baseball drafting world). With only 12 or less teams there is so much talent left on the table after the 20th round (and 30th round for that matter...imagine the NFBC with 90 more players in the FA pool!) that you possibly can find enough in the middle rounds to make this kind of strategy work.

Any way, I am going to stick with it through 10 and see if such a team (or at least one I drafted) would reasonably be able to compete. That what mocks are for, right?

If anybody wants to step in for Berkshire feel free. If he comes back before somebody else steps in, make a pick and let's go from there. Fair enough? Been a while since we've heard from him.
