Jeopardy Question!
Well, it looks like the Gekko is back!
Just to be sure I understand...is that $1 million US, Canadian, or Monopoly?
So, Gordon, are you going to Vegas? Will that be three years, three different cities? Sounds like you are a wanderer like me as I did Vegas, Chicago and this year Tampa...guess next year I will just have to do NY just to say I did...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Hey Gekko, welcome back. It is great to read your ingots of wisdom on the message boards in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand. What better way to start each day then with a good laugh as your stir the NFBC cup and rile up the inmates. You are the indeed the "Crusher" of NFBC, those old timers that watched a little wrestling in the old days know who I am talking about. I would like to see you join us in Tampa for the draft this year so that you can analyze my team again this year. You know, last year you did not give my team much of a chance but we ended up OK. Hopefully you will have your prognostication machine more finely tuned this year. Good luck Gekko, hopefully I will see you in the Sunshine state.

Welcome back Gordon you will be a formidable foe wherever you play that is for sure. Tampa Florida is nice that time of year.
Maybe I want you in Tampa because I like you, maybe I want you in Tampa because I think you will draft this year's Foulke and Thome. Mabye a combination of the 2.

Brandon Lyon!! Loretta!! Eaton!! Reserve or FAAB, 7th or later, 15th round maybe.....You can find replacements for these stiffs. I could see Thome and Foulke, but you got 40 % of Foulke's saves in Lyon.

You do not come across as a guy who makes a lot of excuses, injuries happen. I know I had a few that were hard to take too.
I think you should request essays from reps of the 4 cities and considering who ever has the best that is where you go. Or you could just go to New York and save a grand. Bjoak would say that is because you cannot afford to play with the big boys? I would say it makes fiscal sense- I know that is why I am driving 200 miles rather than New York or Vegas.
Which begs 2 questions? bjoak are you one of the big boys? I am extending an invite to both of you to play me in the 100 league on Feb 21. Bjoak seems to be ducking me- I know Gordon will not.

the idea of having foulke AND lyon was to get saves from both of them, not one of them

A bet every owner replaced at least 8 players from their draft. I didn't pick Loretta you did. What round did you get him in? What did you lose? His career best was 16 hr's, he hit .335 the year before best ever. He only scored over 90 runs twice in his carrer. You could have got Polanco in 20 or so round similar player. As for Eaton, do you want me to give you 10 players that you could have replaced him with.

GG I see your point although there is a lot more wrong with Kaz Matsui as a draft pick than injuries but I have a feeling you would concede that point to me.
I was kidding about you ducking me, not about bjoak ducking me though.
Do this for me if you play a 100 sat league, play the one I am in.
It is easy to dissect anyone's draft post season, especially when you get a top 50 performance pure luck in the 28th round like I did with Cantu.
With that said the thing that surprised me about your team- and I critiqued it then was that you invested so heavily on 2 top closers. Chances are IMO that will not work out more often than it does. It just happened to be a Foulke meltdown that bit you, it could have as easily been a Wagner injury, or they both stay healthy and you end up running away with saves. I realize 75 saves will not run away with it but I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you will find some cheap saves elsewhere from the Bobby Jenks of the world.

use your other reserves and FAAB to pick up the quality players. those were your words, not mine. monday morning QB'ing is easy to do. if i wanted to pick apart your roster, i could do so as well.

Our draft was perfect stay away-
Hudson at pick 38 and his 38k's, and 1.38 whip was awesome.
On a serious note I cut you no slack on Thome- drafting Thome early is a risk. I have also said I had targeted Thome in the mid 2nd round too but like you should have realized an injury was as high a probablity as any offensive player in the top 50.
Relating that to our roster- we went Benitez early who could have ever seen a leg injury coming with him and his 6 pack abs. We danced with the devil and the devil won on him.

Gekko, I rarely engage in these kind of posts, BUT GMAFB - when you win you can take the money and the congratulations - when you lose, skip the excuses and move along for the next season.
But as a footnote, Foulke was injured before the draft last year and that was pretty well known - unless they don't deliver papers in your burg and you couldn't find any baseball websites - maybe you were already knee deep in the Holmes/Johnson tandem strategy threads.............
