WTF happened to "Opening Day" throughout the US!

People taking the day off of work, and skipping school to go with Dad to the ballgame???

Why dilute and trickle out the start of the season in Japan twice, then a single game Sunday before having that killer morning to night baseball packed day on Monday!?!

Do these teams lobby for solo exposure?

If you think having Japan host our pastimes "Opening Day" contributes in ANY WAY toward political relations...you're nutty.

I wonder how much they'd have enjoyed it if DiceK was injured and didn't pitch.

We get 3:00am start times and tape delayed crap and a boxscore to read.

It sure feels like the season has started...WoooHOOOO. (not.)

Nice.

~Lance Its all about the Money. I have 3 kids, you know how much it cost to take them to a Baseball Game? $100 if I am lucky, usually around $200. Opening Day in Japan...MLB should have had Opening Day in Boston with the Sox getting their Rings and then playing the Yankees. Going to the a game is nothing like it used to be. Overpriced food, parking, product on the field sucks, if you live in San Diego. You got one team's payroll of $30 Million playing another team's payroll of $200 Million. Just ridiculous. I just buy the MLB Package and call it a day.

But it was priceless, having my 7 year old kid watching the game with me at 7AM (I TiVo it) and Mark Ellis, who is on our Fantasy Team, hits a HR and my 7 year old goes nuts!! Wakes up the entire household. Fantasy Baseball is keeping my kids involved in the game.

I will do my best not to give MLB any more money this year. I will buy some $5 Park at the Park tickets for the kids and cheer for my Fantasy Players.

[/QUOTE]I plan to go to a few games with the family this year...but agree with you re: ripoff.

Not only that...but Oakland goes all the way to Japan for two REAL games...then fly home for two FAKE games vs. S.F. before resuming their REAL games. Talk about turning it off and on.

Maybe I'm just venting and pissed off due to another year of NFBC drafting what seems like a month before the games begin...and in that time I lose my 2nd rounder and position battles don't pan out as I hoped due to forcing guesswork before the off-season is resolved.

I hate post-draft/pre-season injuries.

Great points made here by Lance and Kimo.

Who exactly is watching these games? At least when the NFL has a regular season game in London or Mexico, they're playing at a regularly-scheduled American time slot.

Jim and Lance, May I suggest Lake Elsinore and Lodi?

Minor League baseball is a lot more entertaining and for a lot less money. Primo seats for 12 bucks, less money for food, drinks, and parking.

A promotion between every inning and usually something at the gate. Plus you can see an organizations player on the rise and say that you saw him when he hits the bigs.

For me its the MLB package on Direct and minor league baseball whenever possible.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

THAT alone is enough motivation for me. ;)

April 10-13 I will be in Sacramento hopefully watching Calyton Kershaw and the rest of the AAA Dodgers playing the A's affiliate. I could truly care less to go pay the money the MLB stadiums charge when I can watch them on TV, but I will fork up some cash to watch Minor League baseball at it's finest!

Hammerin' Jack Hannahan in the reserve round of the Ultimate Auction, I knew he'd pay off for me! Can't wait to see what he's gonna do tonight.

Well...I didn't have the guts to "hammer vs. UCLA" like I planned before I saw who they were playing...and I didn't want the points...even though that looks like a great bet as UCLA rarely covers, and West Kentucky rarely loses by much.

I like Tennesse, so I threw in this parlay...I hope it comes through!

That should make the late games a bit more fun!

1) BET ID=243013431

Parlay (2 Teams) 03/27/08 19:36 ET

bet 101.00 to win 1,641.25 Result: Pending

Louisville

Tennessee 03/27/08(22:00 ET)

Tennessee +130

WKentucky

UCLA 03/27/08(21:45 ET)

WKentucky +650

Hey Guys Dom popped his fantasy baseball cherry last week.A friend of mine in a local league was one short for fifteen guys to make it like the nfbc.So i gave Dom the last spot and he didnt want any help.It was a 160 dollar buy inso since he's been a good boy i put him in.Dom drew the joker which was pick 15 .Here is his team

1 Crawford

2 Soraino

3 Abreu

4 G Atkins

5 Kazmir

6 Kinsler

7 A Gordon

8 Renteria

9 R Hill

10 Loney

11 Lilly

12 B Molina

13 Marmol

14 Lyon

15 F Lopez

16 Longoria

17 Mattews

18 Cameron

19 Marcum

20 R Johnson

21 Bartlett

22 Iguchi

23 Benoit

24 Wilkerson

25 Headley

26 Laird

27 Mussina

28 Fukumori

29 German

30 Qualls

He didnt have his eyes on closers and could have slipped in Wilson and missed it.I like the fact he got three big pitchers Kazmir,Hill, and Lilly.

What do you guys think.

For a 15 team league, AND starting out with 3 OF...yet still putting together a solid infield and pitching staff is very solid.

Looks a bit light on power, but nice job!

I'll be REALY ROOTING HARD for Kazmir, Gordon and Loney to kick ass...and rooting VS. Laird!!! :D :D :D

No bullshit...

I just got home from 12 HOURS of drafting with two groups of local friends...a 10 team serpentine...and a 13 team auction...WOW!!!

What a day!

The refrigerator was so beautifully full of beer that folks were taking photos with their phone-cameras!

Many of those guys were cool and fun...but if almost feels comfortable to come back home (with my buzz) and log in to read what the REAL fantasy baseball dudes think.

You guys are all cool in my book.!

I cant believe the games start tommorrow , i did the 250 last chance draft yesterday which GG put together.Liked my team having pick 6 , getting Hafner in the 5th round pick 6 seems like a pretty good deal.I also grabbed Jerad Weaver in the 11th round who was my 4th starter .[nice staff]Then i left the draft after the 29th pick to drive about half an hour to do my second homerun pool.Had to do my first 4 picks by phone picking 10 in a 12 man league picking 10 guys.

Here is my team

1 Carlos Lee

2 Carlos Pena

3 Josh Hamilton

4 T Glaus

5 LaRoche

6 Sheffield

7 C Jackson

8 Mark Reynolds

9 M Cameron

10 A Kearns

I have my local league american league auction in about an hour. This one takes about 7 hours because their is no clock, the more the boys drink the longer it takes to say pass or go another dollar. Its almost over, have a nice day gentleman.

Maybe to spice up the pasta.

I think their heads are growing a bit too fast.

They are still getting beaten every year by no-name players...are they not?

Just checking.

See you all tomorrow...my second favorite day of the year! (First full Sunday of Football RULES...for all you pansies that didn't know that already.)

If you'd like to argue that fact...PM me! ;)

Here's something for ya Lance. In Vegas, betting some baseball.

Tonight lost a parlay - had TOR dog beating NYY, but lost part II as the Rays blew a late lead. Made up for it though as Bannister and KC combined for a shutout on a +175 line. Yesterday went 2 for 2 on a similar longshot (think it was WAS?) and an SD-LA parlay.

Think I'll try something similar tomorrow with a dog moneyline bet and a separate 2-tm parlay. Any ideas out there? I'll be at the sportbook in the morning?

Also looking at the odds for most pitcher wins, Carmona intrigued me, think he was 30:1.

Missed the earliest games thanks to work getting in the way.

So I've got the Cubs and Pads parlayed. Can't see CHI getting swept at home while SD shouldn't have much trouble scoring on Chacon.

Also took TB-125, liked the Sonnanstine vs Trachsel matchup.
