Slow Draft ADPs Are Available Now

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:28 pm

Do you need a new draft guide? Well, there's nothing better than the most current NFBC ADPs and now you can have access to them once you sign up for a 2012 NFBC team.

As the Slow Drafts are starting to finish, we began calculating the ADPs of these leagues. They will update automatically every morning as leagues conclude. You can track the number of finished leagues on that ADP page.

If you have a 2012 NFBC team, you can track the ADPs by going to Stats in the green navigational bar and pulling down to NFBC ADPs. Everything is listed there.

All of these ADPs will be combined together as the season goes along. As we get nearer the satellite league season, we can look at maybe breaking them out in different time periods or formats. I don't know if we can do that yet, but we'll see. For now, this is good data that everyone can enjoy and use for their Draft Day preparation. Enjoy and thanks to all of the Slow Draft participants for creating this invaluable data.

Re: Slow Draft ADPs Are Available Now

One thing of note: These ADPS are NOT the absolute player eligibility lists. Those are located in the draft room. Someone like Jesus Montero is listed at C in the ADPs, but he is UT-only in the draft room and in our NFBC game. I can't explain why that happens, but not every single ADP listing has the guy in the right position. Again, but the draft room eligibility is correct.

Enjoy the data.

Just a brief update: The IT guys are working these ADPs better than I ever imagined as these are now being updated throughout the day as leagues conclude. They aren't just being updated each morning like we did in years past; these are actually being updated every 5 minutes and can update right after leagues are completed. That will be interesting once the satellite and Online Championship season really heats up.

Enjoy. They surprised me with that one today. I LIKE IT!!

Greg please help I cannot find it. I cannot find my 2012 nfbc team. I am using the same log on I have for years. I am not working all weekend and would love to spend a couple of hours playing around with it. If any of my pals have it please email it to me.

thanks

I just signed you up for the St. Louis Main Event. Now you have a 2012 team. You said you were 99% sure before, so I didn't officially sign you up. But no turning back now my friend!! Welcome aboard and enjoy the ADP.

SWEET! Apply a little standard deviation and BAM....got your probabilities...

Thanks!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I need my team added as well in order to access the ADP's.

Any chance you take last years NFBC teams down off of that page. I've re-visited the failures enough. Time to move on.

Thanks.

Guys, you just have to Register online and those 2012 teams will magically appear under your MY TEAMS. That's what everyone is doing. If for some reason you need me to do it for you, I can, but it is very easy to do. Once you have a 2012 team, you'll have access to the 2012 ADPs.

Joe, there is a link near Log In that says Manage Your Team List. There you can arrange your NFBC and NFFC teams in order or even hide them. You have the ability to do all of this on your own, so hide those 2011 NFBC teams if you'd like. The tools are there for you to do that. Surf around the site and you'll like some of these cool features. Thanks and good luck.

2 things jumped out at me quickly:

Cano: 6-50-5-7-4 Round 4? Is that considered a bargain? Who was drafting in that league to allow that to happen? :o
Bautista: 6-75-2-9-4 Round 6? Is that a bargain? The Cano at 50 was more surprising. Bautista at #2 OA is almost as surprising as him at #75.

I didn't really scan the rest of the top 100 but those 2 really jumped out.

Bud, not sure if you're joking, but just in case you're not.....

Those numbers are actually 6.50 and 6.75 and represent the average draft position for these players for the four completed drafts to date.

The 2nd and 3rd figures represent the earliest the player was drafted and the latest to date. In Cano's case the earliest would then be 5th and the latest 7th.

The last figure represents how many of the four drafts these players were each drafted in. In both these cases, all four.

I have to admit that I am a little surprised that Matt Kemp is 2nd on the ADP. He went 1st Overall in both of my 375 Slows. Pujols is still the King I guess!

My favorite feature of the ADP is actually where it shows your pick and identifies just how much before or after the ADP you selected the player. Just an incredibley fun feature!

I see I may have jumped a couple rounds early for a player, as well as gotten some bargains according to ADP. (I still believe if you are +/- 15 to 30 picks, it is breakeven. If you really wanted a player, and get them in that range, the player likely wouldn't have been around next pick for you.

Lvoing this season so far, Greg! :D

I took Kemp with 1st overall in slow draft I am in now. He may not end up 1 overall, likely won't, but I don't think Pujols will be either. Age eventually catches up and he's just starting to head down backside of hill...won't fall far yet by any means, but not direction I would go to start my team. To each his own, I guess.

Also, I am a Dodgers fanatic...so that may have lead to my decision as well!

There has been some discussion about re-setting the ADP's (in the future) to better reflect the current player value. As time goes on there will be more and more information coming out of spring training and free agent signings. One way would be to simply re-set it to zero on a certain date and populate from there.

Currently the ADP shows John Jay going in the 27 spot (2.11) and Will Ohman going in the 98th spot (6.8). There is one very clever drafter out there. This could be alleviated on the current ADP by assigning an arbitrary number (750) to a players if he isn't selected at all in a particular draft.

Yes, he should be added soon. Now that he is signed with an MLB team, he should show up on the ADPs. I've also asked IT to see where the John Ely and Ohman info is coming from. There are about 4 players that show just 1 league draft data who are incorrectly showing up in the ADPs. We'll get that corrected soon. Sorry about that.

As for ADP splits, we will definitely look into that possibility. We have some other use for that data, so rather than just setting back to 0 we're looking at ways to better split off the data into certain time periods. That would be more meaningful than just deleting data from the early drafts. I don't know if we can do that soon, but it's something we are looking at. Thanks for the suggestions.

Greg,

This may have already been addressed but ... when viewing the NFBC ADPs, I noticed a couple of misplaced names like John Ely at #25. There was one or two others and, as a previous poster said, no Yu Darvish or any of the new Japanese players. Just wanted to call this to your attention.

ps wrong thread but when should we expect our accounts to be debited and rosters to be loaded for those of us who drafted in the premature draftulation league??

All of those rosters have been loaded already. We're still working on some back-end software, so it's possible those aren't available for viewing just yet. Tom will charge that league in the next week. He's working on all of the Slow Draft charges now and when he gets back from vacation.
