This has become the year of the "Slow Draft". Between the two price points ($150 & $375) I think there are over 30 full leagues right now. Some drafts are done in a week, some take over a month. A format has been created to have a "Fast" slow draft. These individuals will go into draft marathon mode during the coming weekends.
I can't sit that long to do 50 rounds in the "Fast" slow draft. I also have a patiance issue with the 30 day + events. I'm currently in one that on track for about 25 days. This isn't bad but I'd prefer to get into one of those 10 day events.
So what I propose is an event full of like minded drafters that are willing to and have the time to commit to a 5 rounds per day average. This would be completed inside of 10 days. I guess all we'd need is 15 players that are committed to and have internet access during the course of the day. These individuals should also be comfortable with the "Auto-One" drafting option. You don't have to commit to being on the computer all day, we'll have some gaps but just not the 4-8 hour ones that are occuring during prime drafting hours in some events.
Does anyone think this is a good idea? We wouldn't have to start it right away. We could set an arbitrary date in the future, maybe March 1st or something. Please leave a response if this is something you'd be interested in. This would also have to meet with Greg and Tom's approval.
Thanks.

I'd take a spot in a 10 day or less slow draft. I like your suggestion.

What might be a better way is just put a 30 min to 1 hr limit each pick. That forces people to commit. if you leave the clock at 8 hrs, even if its supposed be a 10 day draft, there will always be the excuses IMO.

i would do one with a 1 hr time limit . set it up but start it on a friday .
Re: Like Minded Slow Drafters - Draft Idea
I doubt that the software can be changed this year to accommodate different time limits. I'd be fine accepting players at their word that they'd be available. Definite sleeping hours, definitely some periods during the day where players are either busy or caught off guard when it's there turn. But 5 rounds a day.hot and cold wrote:i would do one with a 1 hr time limit . set it up but start it on a friday .
The bottom line is that it would be a draft for folks that want it to move, use the auto when it close to your turn when you're going to be gone and most importantly the players that simply communicate with each other.
Many different types of players in the slow drafts and all drafts. I'd just like to participate in one where everyone is on the same page. Just an idea.

even if you get 15 players to commit to one hour time limit the major problem would still be the time zone differece. 1100pm eastcoast = 8 pm and prime time on west coast. same applies for the morning hours. same three four hours that one or the other coast is sleeping during prime time for the other coast.

How about a live 30 Round draft, followed by a 20 Round slow draft. Most of the significant players would be chosen in the live draft -- hence, the last 20 rounds would not take as long as people tend to go on auto a lot.
