Hi Greg - Since this topic was brought up a few times today I'd appreciate if we could address breaks during the online main events, online supers, online ultimate, etc. I also participated in the main event online last year and was surprised that we didn't have the breaks that are written about in the rules.
Section 4.
Breaks: There will be a 15-minute break after Round 10 and another 15-minute break after Round 20, and we will finish the draft after the final break.
I don't think we need 15 minutes but at least a 5 minute break between round 10 and 20 would be nice. Of course some folks need to grab a snack or go to the bathroom. For myself I need to catch-up crossing guys off and stuff. I find this part of a draft more difficult when drafting online versus live. I'm always toggling back and forth between my draft sheet and the draft software. I participated in the fast/slow draft yesterday and without a break I had to give up crossing off guys towards the middle of the draft.
Since the bigger money drafts like the mains, supers, ultimate are all facilitated by a NFBC employee I would appreciate it if we could build in some breaks (5 minute, 10 minutes, anything)
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Breaks during drafts- Can we re-visit
Jason, online Main Event drafters have 90 seconds per pick because we're allowing for extra time that usually happens in live drafts between the time that the pick is announced live and the sticker actually gets on the board. So there probably is a slight advantage there for online drafters. But as you say the tradeoff is the fact that we don't have any breaks for those online drafts.
It's really tough for us to stop each of these Online drafts for breaks when we're monitoring multiple drafts at once and honestly it opens up for potential technical errors. It's not something I want to do at this point and have anything happen. With 15 people all taking a break and maybe not all coming back at once and with one guy monitoring these different online drafts I just think the risks are more than I'd like to try right now.
I understand the reasoning, but hopefully you'll understand why I just don't want to take a chance for anything possible going wrong. It's 4+ hours and hopefully those drafting online can make it work. Maybe down the line we can readdress this, but right now my plan is not to have breaks for the online Mains to avoid anything negative that could happen technically. Sorry.

Greg,
Thanks for the explanation. I understand and it won't stop me from having a great time doing these drafts.

I really don't see the need for long breaks during these drafts unless you are having internet issues.
I had participated in 6 main event drafts in Vegas, Orlando and Chicago prior to participating in last year's online Main Event and the online version was by far the longest and most excruciating in terms of the time people took to make a pick. Drafting from the three spot, I think I had 20 to 30 minutes sometimes between picks. If you took the time to pre rank guys in the system and had your own crib sheet to cross off players, I am not sure why you can't find 5 minutes to use the rest room and still catch up on the draft?
The fast drafts are one thing, but the online main event is anything but a fast draft for most. No breaks needed.
