Steve, what are you saying? People LOVE going to Mets games!
I feel bad for the dad and son in this picture who went to all the games to see Reyes play last year... :P

That looks like it was in old Fulton County Stadium pre-1991 for the Braves. My wife and I would always get vouchers for tickets, free from where she work, and pretty much always sat on the visitors side!

No misdirection here Wayne.. what, you on Lowy's payroll ? Let's stay focused here - Lowy's seemingly unhealthy obsession with the Mets.

Anything to do with the Braves or peach cobbler you can move over to another thread ok ? ;)

Ken, no offense intended. From the numerous posts with similar thoughts I've read on various threads since, it appears many feel the same way. Hopefully, it will provide the impetus for Greg & Tom to address it themselves.

Jupinka, Jupinka, Jupinka..... . I'm not quite sure how Max's and your mocking of the typically weak attendance at Braves home games has any bearing whatsoever on the premier organization in sports, my Mets, but your obvious obsession with the team shows nothing short of franchise envy. Give in already to the blue and orange. I have a jersey with "your name" on it.

38 Days 'til the next NFBC season for those who haven't won in a while to do whatever it takes to break their curse.

Image

Realize though, it may take an extraordinary effort to achieve your goals and no excuses, no matter how valid, will get you where you want to be. So do whatever it takes to be champion....

.....and when all is said and done, who knows, you might actually be the champion.

Though not as clebrated as Schilling's bloody sock, here's another pair of Red Sox socks filled with something just as intriguing.... :D

so sad seeing citifield that empty. I told Glenn if he wants to see what a full ballpark looks like, he can make the trip down to Philly when his Mets play my Phillies:)

Got it and thanks for the bonus! Now I can go to a restaurant to celebrate...by myself...and I can splurge on a Happy Meal!

Andy, I told you before, you're on for a Mets-Phils game this summer. Though since you brought it up, we'll have to make it Citifield to help with the attendance there. ;)

Wayne, ummm did the girl in my office send you enough for a WHOLE Happy Meal??? I only told her to send a discount coupon for a buy one get one half off!!! Jeez, you can't get decent help anywhere nowadays.

Jupinka, Jupinka, Jupinka..... Once again, like your early reference on the '69 Mets a few weeks back, today you jump ahead and all over my Countdown theme for tomorrow. Have you no patience? I know that your OCD when it comes to our Mets limits your self control, but I think it's time for drastic action.

I'll start gathering the participants now Steve. Sadly your condition has reached the point where waiting is no longer an option.

Glenn:

Here are six members you can bring to the Intervention! Better save some of those entry fee's you are tossing out there for this "package". Don't want you walking away from the 2012 season completely empty handed! ;)

FLUSHING, N.Y., February 14, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced the Mets
50th Anniversary Alumni Bobblehead Series will feature Tom Seaver, Rusty Staub,
Keith Hernandez, Edgardo Alfonzo and Mike Piazza. The first 25,000 fans at Citi
Field will receive the following bobblehead giveaways on the following dates:
Seaver (April 22), Staub (May 26), Hernandez (June 17), Alfonzo (July 21) and
Piazza (August 25)

I'm AMAZED........(pardon the pun) that they found five Superstars to pay tribute to with this series!

37 Days for us to determine how the managerial changes since last year's Opening Day will affect the counting stats of our fantasy players.

Image

Many of us look at the managerial philosophy employed on a team to determine what kind of production can be expected in certain categories. (Ken Macha anyone?)

While some managers build their teams around speed, defense, and the 1-inning closer.....

Image

For others, it's all about starting pitching and the 3-run homer.

Image

There's been a significant number of managerial changes for us to process since this time last year.

Some legendary World Series winning managers went out by their own accord with grace and on top....

Image
(At least now we won't have to deal with our MI's hitting 9th behind the pitcher anymore! )

Others, maybe not so much....

Image

Some just moved to a different address....

Image
(I'd move too if forced to wear that uniform on Retro Day a couple nights a year.)

And of course, we've seen the return of two all-time greats who's managerial achievements with baseball's premier franchise have cemented their place in the sport's history....

Image Image

Speaking of Valentine's, I hope everyone did the right thing yesterday, put their prep work away for a few hours, and focused on their significant others for one night. After all, where would we be in this hobby without our wives' support in our love for it?

Image
Image

My night was going great until the ring at the door where a bouquet from Massotto showed up....not only dwarfing the one I had given my wife earlier but also reminding her of my ummm renegotiated Mahwah/Vegas promise.
Thanks again Massotto. ;)

I hope everyone else had a better night....and I hope now that Valentine's has passed, Doughy has gotten his notebooks back. :D

Glenn, nice job with the thread, it's very entertaining. From the home of the Cubs, we probably won't see an attendance like the Mets this year but it has been in a downward trend unfortunately...

Scottie, unlike Jupinka, Max, and Andy  , I really don't pay much attention to attendance figures, but I've got to tell you this surprises me. I was always under the perception that Cubbie fans being masochists always made sure Wrigley was filled every game. :P

Thanks also for the kind words on the thread. It's a lot of fun for me made even more fun by those who join in with a nice word, added thoughts, or even a friendly ribbing. :D

Please feel free to switch over to a soon to be WINNER from the Mess...

Don't wait too long, because there is a initiation to get on the band wagon when we are in a pennant race ;)

Funny Glenn!
I know how much fun you had bringing your son to his first game at Citi Field... A dream come true for any father!

As a thank you for doing this countdown for all of us, I contacted the Mets and asked them to go through their photos to see if they could find a picture of you at your first game at Shea... They Came Through! :P

Wow Max, that really brings back fond memories, thank you. ;)

To return the favor, I found a couple photos of you at your first Cubbies game as well, obviously before the required name & identity change.

Only 36 Days 'til this year's live drafts for the NFBC.

Image

Many show up to the live drafts dressed in the jerseys and caps of their local or favorite teams. Most of us being just as big baseball fans as fans of fantasy sports, it adds to the festivities to be there in our team colors. I enjoy the tradition as well and have often arrived to the live drafts, Tom Seaver retro jersey on my back. :)

However, no matter how excited by the live drafts, no matter how big a fan of your team, there's just no excuse to go out in public in certain ummmm errrrrr we'll call them styles..... :o :o  Even these former All-Stars or current Hall of Famers were embarrassed to be seen in these.....

Image
We are family? I'd run away if that was mine. :? Even the caps are unbearable.

Image
Everyone thinks Winfield left the Padres for the Bombers for the 10-year contract. I wonder. :?

Image
Was it the blazing fastballs that produced so many K's or that batters couldn't concentrate while chuckling over the rainbow blouses. :?

Image
Seaver was voted into the HOF with the highest percentage ever at 98.84%. The 1.16% that voted nay cited this uniform as reason enough to vote against. :?

And most of all, no matter how big a fan of the White Sox, no matter how tempted to show your allegiance to your team, there is just no reason whatsoever to ever be seen in public in......

Image
Huh? What? Why??? :?

So if you insist on wearing team colors to Draft Day, please consider something classic and with style in 36 Days.
Might I suggest.....

Image

Or even.....

Image
Who might that handsome devil on the right be? :D ;)

And one more thing....
Max, please please don't wear your Dave Kingman feetie pajamas again this year. :? :? You're a grown man after all, well sorta.
