SportsDraftDaily.com

Post by CC's Desperados » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:40 pm

Over the past two months, I been writing about this year's player pool at SportsDraftDaily.com. The site was finally complete at the beginning of the week. When I'm done with the player pool, I will have done my NFBC prep by writing. Many times an opinion of a player can change on a dime as we get more information. The goal of the writing is to get a feel for the player pool. At the same time, I've done a couple of slow drafts to get myself in tune with the draft flow.

The site is free and the player pool information if worthless in 6 weeks when the draft season ends. I'm making an appearance on Ray Flowers Sirius Satellite show tomorrow night at 7:35 EST. I hope to talk about the High Flying pitchers this year and about the draft flow in the NFBC.

I plan on doing a chat this upcoming week. Unfortunately, Sunday night may be the best time for me. I'll need to check with Greg and see if that time works for him.

During the season, I think we are going to cover the NFBC games. I'm not of the details yet.

LABR is about two weeks away. I will be doing the auction prices for the AL and NL. I'll post them on the site and I will post a game plan after I talk to Greg. After the LABR, I will convert my prices plus the LABR results to NFBC 15 auction prices. As of today, I'm not in a 15 team auction, but I'll do my best to get in one.

Our original plan had Scott and I covering the Spring training games in Floirda and Arizona. As of the today, that is put on the back burner. If we can drive players to the content, it would be a easier sell.

If anyone has any feed back, I'd be happy to hear it.

Shawn, anyone who's serious about this game is foolish not to take a look at whatever you put out there.
Nice job on the look of the website, I'll take a look at the content over the next few days.

Sunday night works for me Shawn. Just say the word and we'll set it up and give folks a few hours to post questions beforehand. Thanks and good luck to you and Scott with the site and the games.

Shawn,

I checked out the site immediately upon hearing about it through one of Greg's post. I love the content and setup of the site. I put my rankings together based on a number of things. One of them is reading player profiles from a number of different sources. You have the most comprehensive player profiles of any site I've seen. I love reading it all as something always sticks with you when reading this stuff.

The site will catch on very quickly. Next year I predict you will not be giving it away. I'll be the first in line to purchase when that day comes. Good Luck.

Great job Shawn and Scott, thanks for the free read. The look and feel are only matched by the excellent content.

It's great to see the thought process of some top players and all the research put into it...makes me want to work a little harder or I'll surely be playing for 2nd (or 300th) ;)

Thanks, Shawn

It's a shame I spend my time talking to the Best Unknown Talent evaluater in West when I should be going directly to the big league club in the east. Thanks for the post and the support and I look forward to seeing you in Vegas for the first time.

Someone did put a quarter in ya before that interview, Shawn! That's ok, it resulted in Elfrinck being quiet for 5 minutes.

Nice job with the interview. You cast a very positive light on our playground here at the NFBC. I was thinking that you were talking above about 90% of the audience you had - and then it was confirmed when the one question they gave you was your thoughts about an 8 team keeper league!!!

Great work and excellent 'pub for this contest. Sorry that I'll miss ya in Vegas this year. Also, great work with the website; best material out there.

Some really great stuff there. Only thing is I think you called attention to a lot of guys that are on my radar that I am hoping to get cheap. There are no secrets in fantasy sports any more. I guess I should feel good that I'm not the only one getting hunches on guys that are not getting ink elsewhere.

I'm a rookie in the NFBC this year and one of the first things I found when I started researching the game was an old CC's Desperados blog where you broke down fantasy seasons week by week. I think this is the best thing I've found for understanding the nuances of this format and also one of the few things I've found anywhere out there that really seems to get and explain the tactical, week to week adjustments that make the difference between winning and losing.

I plan on bringing the old team write ups forward to the site. I was disappointed that I didn't do a I write up for LIndy this year and Gino Yu's 12 teamer. I looked into it in January, but I could pull the right information without being logged on the owner's team page. Fanball's software made it easier to do that kind of stuff. I think it helps to see how weak the player pool really is during the year. I hope it helps you have success early in your NFBC career.

Shawn - if there was an explanation on the site I didn't see it - so why are your Tiers so large. When there are 15 as in the league size, shouldn't you use another name - groups or something - not all the fifteen catchers (for instance) are in the same "tier" as least as most drafters would define them.

We wanted to separate them in some sort of fashion and maybe "tiers" is the wrong word.I think most players play in 10 to 15 team leagues. I think it helps to separate each group so a player may be able to spot a position where they see some value. I know the outfield is really difficult to merge as one group. I really didn't have enough time to separate that position as well as I would like to.

The bottom line is: a fantasy player needs to know about 15 names at each position when he is on the clock. He has to evaluate which position he feels has the most value and which position may have the most depth.

I changed the titles today.
