My OC Team

Post by BK METS » Sun Mar 25, 2012 2:27 pm

OK Gekko - Have at it

From the 12 position

C - Napoli(4), Ramos(16), Olivo(28)
1B - A Gonzalez(1), R Howard(20)
2B - J Weeks(11), A Hill(18)
3B - A Ramirez(6), Freese(17)
SS - A Cabrera(5)
OF - Granderson(2), Pence(3), Crisp(12), Tabata(19), Revere(23), Alosno(24), Presley(27)
SP - Shields(8), Beachy(9), Darvish(10), J Garcia(13), Kuroda(14), McCarthy(22), Vogelsong(25), Stauffer(26), Nova(30)
RP - Kimbrel(7), Farnsworth(15), Jim Johnson(21), Pestano(29)

Waited until 7th round for starting pitching, Was happy to have Adrian Gonzalez fall to me at 12. Happy with speed and power. Might be low on batting average. Might also be short on Ks, but I should be able to get some decent pitching in FAAB.

i don't play the 12 teamers anymore. there are too many superpower teams for my liking. i can't give you an educated eval.

If you don't mind me jumping on here....

*I am certainly no expert, just my observations.....

Power looks short. Obviously the longer Howard is out, the bigger an issue this will be.

Drafting a lot of guys who hit 1st or 2nd in their lineup is obviously going to affect your RBI numbers as well.

Speed looks very nice.

In the 12 teamers, I think you have to have an anchor on your pitching staff. That being said, Shields, Beachy, and Darvish could all be great. After that, I am a little lukewarm on the rest of your staff. Your bullpen looks good, as Kimbrel is a beast and Farnsworth is solid. Jim Johnson is probably a guy on your bench sooner than later.

Not sure if this team can contend with the BA avg, HR, and RBI issues along with what could be an average-slightly above average staff.

Again, I don't know much, so take it with a grain of salt. ;)

Good luck!

I have an OC next weekend and will post my team then. Not sure I can do better, but I will try. :D

I think you got some great value on your SP! Getting Shields in round 8 is great value. In Mahwah yesterday he went last pick round 4 in Main league 1 and first pick round 6 in Main league 2. I really like Beachy and J.Garcia too. If Darvish can give you anything even close to his Japanese stats then you've gt a great SP base to build on. Kuroda will give you steady, stable production in NYY (he's averaged 199 IP and 160 K's last 2 years). That gives you 5 SP's plus a great closer in Kimbrel and another undervalued closer in Farnsworth(cut his bb/9 rate to 1.9 last yr). If you pick up some K's via FAAB you should be in good shape.BTW....Presley was great pick round 27 with lots of upside. He's a BA asset and with Nate McLouth as his main competition he could get enough PT to swipe 25-30 bags too! Would you care to critique my team from Mahwah Main league 1?

I can't believe Gonzalez fell to 12th pick, what a gift.... Wish he would of in mine.. I had pick 12 in one too. I will post mine and you can tell me which one you like better..
