Since joining the NFBC, I've had the same habit after the draft. I write down the 30 names like they would look on a roster and stare at them for the next week.
This 'exercise' does a couple of things. When the regular season starts, I want to know who the players are on 'my important teams' without looking. Also, after staring long enough, the weaknesses start to manifest themselves and I'll know what to look for in that first week of faab.
I'm a conservative drafter. I don't like health risks, I try to have coverage in all 10 categories, and seldom 'jump' a player beyond adp just to have that player.
I'm betting most of us, whether we know it or not, draft by our real life personalities. Some of us are frugal and conservative, some are balls to the wall and want who they want and will pay any price to get those players. The rest fall in between.
I keep staring at the team from yesterday and ask myself, 'Is this a winning roster?'
I've had success in the past, I've had duds in the past and my answer is always the same.
No.
I want to be the guy that makes the 'Here's your $100,000 team' post.
I can't.
It's great that others can think that positively about their team.
I can't
It's because along with being frugal and conservative, I'm a glass half empty guy.
Funny thing is, while drafting, I'm a glass half full guy.
For example yesterday, I took Hiroki Kuroda. I'm thinking that here's a guy that'll give me good WHIP, possibly an ERA that won't hurt, average strike outs, and hopefully a lot of wins.
When I look at him on paper, it's different. I'm thinking he goes from a big ball park to one with a jet stream out to right field. He's going from a weak hitting league to probably the best hitting division in baseball.
He doesn't throw particularly hard, so there may be games where he gets lit up.
The left side drafts.
The right side analyses.
It has to be that way for me. If it was the other way around, I'd find a reason not to take every player on the Board.
Every player has something wrong with them.
Matt Kemp has hit .249
Albert may have peaked.
Cabrera has a broken face and is a drinker.
I can't allow myself to think about those things.
If I did, I'd be the same guy who couldn't close the deal with Jenifer Aniston because he was thinking about the hairy mole on the bottom of her foot.
Left Side, Right Side

Re: Left Side, Right Side
I thought you had a very good draft. Your 3rd RD pick was a steal. Maybe a little light on SP depth, but you can't argue with the top end of it.
Re: Left Side, Right Side
Thanks Bob.
As usual, your draft was tight. Your 3/4 turn was gold.
Hopefully, we'll have another battle at the top of a league again.
