I thanked Mike before the draft but I want to do so publicly as well. He worked hard to fill this league up and did a great job putting it all together. I think everyone had a good time and I think it would be great if we were able to do something like this on an annual basis.

Hopefully next time you guys don't have to twist Lowy's arm so much to get him to play. :D

Thanks again for all the work Mike and good luck to everyone in this league this year.

Just wanted to finally post to let everyone know that I am just about recovered from my post-draft weekend hangover! If there is one downside of planning an event like this for the better part of a year, then spending nearly every waking moment over the last six months to fill it, and finally disappearing for two days of immersion in live draft events even though you're about 20 miles away from your house... it's that when it's finally over, you have one serious mother-fing honey-do list when you get home!  I will be responding in kind to everyone's posts to this thread tomorrow, as well as posting all of the highlights, low-lights, and stories from the First Annual "MTM" Super Event which I know that everyone is dying to hear about. I also have plenty of pics (the photographer I had covering the event did a great job :D ). But for now, I just wanted to take a moment to seriously thank all of the competitors who participated in this year's inaugural event. Your presence truly made it special. What an amazing bunch of guys, and it was great getting to know all of you either some more, or for the first time. If someone had suggested, "let's play two!", I would have signed up on the spot to do it. You guys are all pros, and it was great to see you at work. I am looking forward to the competition the rest of the year which I am sure will be hard fought and brutal right down to the wire. It has been said before, but whoever wins this league will have earned some serious bragging rights to go along with a killer trophy and the $20,000 prize. :D So stay tuned: tomorrow (well now actually later today  ), there is a ton of interesting and fun stuff that I will post on this thread as I have done over the last several months. And this is one occasion that everything did in fact live up to the hype if I do say so myself. 8-)

Thanks, Tom. Could not have done it without all the help and the endorsement from you and Greg. All of us have already decided that this will be an annual tradition, and we have already started to plan next year and have thrown around a lot of cool ideas to make it even better. :D

And next year, if Lowy tries to pull this again, I won't be twisting his arm...I'll be breaking it!

Mike,
Top notch draft you put together Friday night. The trophy (not Glenn's) looked awesome and the shirts were awesome. Many of this motley crew in the Super wore theirs for all their drafts in Mahwah the whole weekend.

The assistant facilitator spend all her time putting stickers on Andre while you guys were so serious drafting. You could hear a pin drop in the room the tension was so tight.

Was a lot of fun for Rich, Andre and I to facilitate. Look forward to doing it again in future years. Good luck to everyone in weekend 2 and see many of you in NY this weekend.

Thanks Andy. You and the boys did a great job facilitating all the drafts this past weekend, even with the "distraction" of the assistant draft administrator  Although my suggestion is for you stick to what you know best and do everyone a favor by STOP drafting teams yourself!!!

Okay, so another ridiculously late night has gotten away from me, but I wanted to at least post the NFBC equivalent of a little crack cocaine for those of you die-hards who have been following this thread since its inception. So here's the first five rounds of the inaugural MTM New York Metropolitan Super League Event. Keep in mind that we did our "Iron Balls KDS" on the spot, so nobody knew what their draft position was until their name was called and they picked their preference at the table. I won't give away who drafted where until after this weekend's drafts when I will post a photo of the full draft board on this thread for all to see and critique, but until then, this is how the best of the best in the east laid it down to start (by the way, the first name out of the hat went with draft spot 11 :D )

ROUND 1:

1-Kemp
2-Pujols
3-Braun
4-M.Cabrera
5-Bautista
6-Tulo
7-Votto
8-A. Gonzalez
9-Cano
10-H. Ramirez
11-Ellsbury
12-Cargo
13-Fielder
14-Pedroia
15-J. Upton

ROUND 2:

16-Kinsler
17-Longoria
18-Kershaw
19-Teixeira
20-Stanton
21-Granderson
22-Beltre
23-McCutcheon
24-Verlander
25-Reyes
26-C. Santana
27-Halladay
28-Holliday
29-Cl. Lee
30-Pence

ROUND 3:

31-Napoli
32-Hamilton
33-Hosmer
34-B.J. Upton
35-Lincecum
36-Hernandez
37-R. Zimmerman
38-Greinke
39-Andrus
40-Bruce
41-Sandoval
42-Wright
43-Price
44-Uggla
45-Cruz

ROUND 4:

46-Lawrie
47-Weaver
48-A-Rod
49-Bourn
50-Sabathia
51-Gallardo
52-Gordon
53-Hamels
54-Castro
55-M. Young
56-Konerko
57-Zobrist
58-Haren
59-Phillips
60-Lester

ROUND 5:

61-A. Cabrera
62-A. Ramirez
63-Strasburg
64-C.J. Wilson
65-Kendrick
66-Cain
67-Morse
68-Bumgarner
69-Victorino
70-Wieters
71-Jennings (this pick evoked an eruption of emotion from the owner and perhaps structural damage to the table)
72-Youkilis
73-McCann
74-Wainwright
75-Rollins

Enjoy. Thoughts? More good stuff to come later tonight.

And now some sights of the First Annual New York Metropolitan League "MTM" Invitational Super Event. (I took the liberty of editing out all the debauchery, nudity, etc especially as it pertained to Gillis, Deterra, and Ericson  )

The lovely assistant draft administrator, Davana, makes her entrance :D

Only to be bored sh*tless not long afterwards when she receives the least amount of attention from a room full of guys that she's ever gotten in her life!

This wouldn't fit full size on here, but click through to enjoy the draft board of the First Annual New York Metropolitan League "MTM" Invitational Super Event in Mahwah, NJ. An instant classic! I now have a waiting list of no less than five other NFBC top competitors who have already approached me who want in for next season. 8-) I'm sure that there are bound to be a few openings after the shellackings that are going to be dealt out by me on several of the less fortunate league donors this season.  Feel free to post your comments and thoughts.

[img][/img]

This was a live KDS draw, and Eddie Gillis drew the first pick and chose the 11 hole (which obviously did him no good  ), and Mike "Poopy Tooth" Lins grabbed the number one pick when his name was drawn next...again to much chagrin in the end for him. But we will just thank him for his donation and the best laugh of the night when he went off in a mock rant on Jupinka after his Aybar pick. Classic.

I, of course, drafted the winning team out of the 15 hole despite a valiant effort by the likes of Ken Magner and Joe Anthony, The Champ, Steve Jupinka himself, and a couple of others such as the dapper yet exhausted and overwhelmed, Glenn Lowy, and the senile and decrepit, Joe Thelen; but also not to be forgotten was the haplessly caught off-guard and unprepared with his faulty Twitter feed, Scott Fleming who is admittedly past his prime...

Roy, "Ice Cream Man", Ericson was simply not only out of style as usual (as the early '80's are long over and someone forgot to tell him), but outmatched even with the help of his Pulp Fiction briefcase.  And I can't be sure, but I believe I may have contracted something from being forced to draft next to Dave Deterra two days in a row. I just hope that whatever he has is curable, which I'm thinking is not. ;) When I have more time, I should spend some of it recapping my experiences from sitting next to him for several hours over two days before I die or I'm hospitalized. I could probably put together the pilot for a good sitcom.

I'm sure the rest of the league is wondering why I'm not roasting them as well, but I only can push it so far based on how much I know these guys. As it is, Danny Mitlof thinks I'm psycho, even though John Lemke is the real psycho, and Nelson Sousa is still trying to figure out what hit him as he discovered that fantasy baseball is quite a step up to the collegiate equivalent of fantasy sports... unlike fantasy football which requires about the same level of intelligence, skill, wisdom, guile, and overall knowledge as a third grade chimpanzee.

Marc Perlmutter worked with a co-manager in his case to simply draft a team that was doubly bad. And last but not least, Mike Edelman, made us all look silly spinning his usual brilliance from his mini-computer think tank set up, only to realize about half way through the draft that he was using his cheat sheets and projections from 2008. :o  But otherwise, to reiterate, a fun time had by all, and much more to come the rest of this year and years to come! :D

If you're having trouble seeing it, this is how the draft order went:

1-Lins
2-Lowy
3-Mitlof
4-Edelman
5-Thelan
6-Edelman
7-Perlmutter
8-Sousa
9-Magner
10-Jupinka
11-Gillis
12-Lemke
13-Fleming
14-Deterra
15-Massotto

Notice Massotto and Lowy had to be in the Center! ;)

The MOUTH has been very quiet since the season has begun in earnest. I'll give him a chance
to get back in the mix my putting a team name/ name to all the faces that will no doubt finish
in front of him this season. Toughest and most intense draft I've ever participated within. Solid
group of NFBC players. Again, fantastic job Mikey and kudo's to Tom & Greg for throwing you us
the support.

Lins,
There's an old expression in fantasy baseball that goes something like this: "Don't talk shit when you're miraculously in first place four weeks into the season lest you be forced to eat crow in the end when you are slapped with a harsh dose of reality that your team's 15 minutes of fame was in April."

Hey poopy ! you were right

Great job mid-way point Sack and Anthony. 117.5pts and no one is even close to them. Those Cracker Barrel maple syrup stained cheat sheets are now well on their way to the MtM section of Baseball's HOF.

Meanwhile, in the Yu (KJ) versus U-baldo (MTM) bet, a mid-year update ...

Yu = currently the 30th ranked pitcher (8th rd pick by KJ, shocking MTM in the first slow draft of the season).

Ubaldo = currently the 125th ranked pitcher (9th rd stud "who will have a much better season", selected by MTM).

30th ranked pitcher = 7th rd equivalent
125th ranked pitcher = 23rd round "value" :P

Second half comeback or check's in the mail, Mike?

Thanks for the kind words Steve...but Sack & I don't appreciate the reverse psychological 2nd half hex you're attempting here!

Since I apparently forgot to take my maple syrup stained cheat sheet with me to the Mahwah main...RIGHT BACK AT YA BUDDY! :P

Hey KJ, if you hear from Mikey, let me know. I was thinking about seeing if Sack could put an APB out for him!
