I like your hitting more than your main event teams. Hosmer, Kinsler, and Tulo can do some damage and then all you need is a little from everyone else. Obviously if one of those guys misses time, that will really hurt your team.

Not sure about infatuation with Cain.....I don't think you can count on Cain for more than 6 or 7 HR's, as he isn't that type of player.

Greinke is top 5 this year....book it!

The rest? ..... you better be on your game on the wire. ;)

You also need Marshall to establish himself as THE closer. If that happens (and I think it will), that will help tremendously.

Good Luck!

Here is my auction championship team from Friday. I was in 3 auctions this weekend, with this team being the pitching strong team. Todays league, I went the opposite direction. In this one, looking for breakout years from Duda, Cespedes, and Kubel. Not loving my infield other than Miggy and Asrubel, but will move things around once Miggy qualifies at 3rd. I loaded my bench with steals and pitching depth. I kept to my strategy throughout my drafts and auctions this weekend of strong closer combos.. Opposite of what I normally do, but I think the closer uncertainty and injuries will cause a lot of owners searching the waiver wire all year and I will be spending money on infield depth and maybe HRs if my breakout guys dont come through. Overall I got the players I wanted, for the most part.

C- Napoli-23
C- Avila-11
1B - Miggy-39

Thanks Alan! We thought guys were going 3-5 dollars higher than they should have early on in the auction so we just patiently waited(ok Jeff was patient i was nervous..lol) until the end thinking we could grab some real value there and we liked the team at the end of the day.

NFBC Auction Championship

This was our first time ever competing in a 15 team mixed Auction, but I think that we actually fared pretty well here. Again, I would love to hear thoughts and opinions on this team!

C – Chris Iannetta ($2), Jason Castro ($1)

1B – Adam Dunn ($12)

2B – Dustin Pedroia ($30)

SS – Hanley Ramirez ($35)

3B – Mat Gamel ($8)

OF – Matt Kemp ($40), Desmond Jennings ($18), Andre Ethier ($13), Yonder Alonso ($4), Dayan Viciedo ($1)

MI – Jimmy Rollins ($16)

CI – Carlos Lee ($7)

UTIL – Will Venable ($4)

SP – Adam Wainwright ($18), Ian Kennedy ($15), Max Scherzer ($8), Vance Worley ($4), Edwin Jackson ($2), Henderson Alvarez ($1), Carlos Zambrano ($2)

RP – Jason Motte ($12), Frank Francisco ($7)

Bench – Mike Leake, Brian Matusz, Bobby Abreu, AJ Burnett, Hector Noesi, Francisco Cordero, Wilson Betemit.

I would have liked to see one more high quality SP from this team, but the pitching prices got pushed higher than was anticipated. I had Madison Bumgarner targeted as our ace, but was priced out at $23.

Copy and pasted this from Sportsdraftdaily.com where my Co-Drafter Dave Shovein is a contributor. Fire away people!

Hi G@mblor. I thought you grabed some great values in this auction, especially with Jennings,Carlos Lee, Scherzer,Iannetta and Alvarez. Jennings is a steal at $18 in any format. He cost me $26 in a 13 team AL-only league but has been going close to that price even in mixed auctions.Carlos Lee may be getting older but he's gone in low double digits many places. Also like Scherzer below $10(8 actually);once again he;s been going in $10 range.Great value at CA also with Iannetta who is a $5-7 value in many leagues. But I really like Henderson Alvarez at $1! Could be the best $1 buy anywhere if he even comes close to his potential.I do think Kemp went for a litle too much but if he goes 30/30 again he's probably worth every dollar . Good luck this year.

I appreciate the compliments Rich. This was our first auction of any kind so I'm quite happy with how the team turned out. It was extremely hard to remain patient on pitching (our first selected pitcher was around the 120th nominated player) but I think we were able to put together a good staff considering how thin the position was at the time.

With Kemp it just comes down to belief. If you believe he is going to repeat last season then $50 is not too high and if you think hes due for a big regression then $40 is certainly too much. As it happens Pujols had just gone for $44 and just about all the early players were going for big (too big in our opinon) money early on. $40 was our cap on Kemp and we just threw it out there so that he wouldn't go for what we felt was a low amount compared to other early players. We were lucky/unlucky that nobody raised our bid.

The same thing happened with Jimmy Rollins. Starlin Castro had just gone for $26 and we felt we couldn't allow someone to steal Rollins for $15. Alvarez is a big key for us. If he can be a solid contributor then it will help make up for us being a bit light with our starting pitchers.

Again, thanks for your comments. Good Luck with your teams this season!
