The Real Stanton with a HR

- P. Goldschmidt homered to deep left ;)

{ps - he's hitting 5th in lineup vs RH Lincecum}

The last time I remember Gekko hyping a player in a similar way was pre-breakout Cargo when he said he'd be the new Braun in the 7th round. Just so everyone knows that Gekko isn't just hyping Goldschmidt solely due to his opening day homer, he first mentioned the Stanton in the 10th round comparison to me when we were comparing teams in PM's after the 1st weekend Main. I hope he's as right about Goldschmidt as he was on Cargo. I've got Goldschmidt rostered on a few squads. :D

He mentioned the same thing in a slow draft at least 6-8 weeks ago. That Goldschmidt = Stanton but 10 rounds later.

Will the real slugger be Goldy 10rds later or Cespedes 15 rounds later (with a double-digit SB bonus thrown-in) ???

Another player I have on a 1/2 dozen or so teams that I'm hoping is the real deal. With these two, I should have focused on speed and pitching early. :)

Right now I'm really liking that side bet we have Nelson. Just start saving up for that dinner you'll owe me next Main. I'm thinking a 3 lb lobster tail and some porterhouse. :)

The Real Stanton is going to have a hard time keeping up with the Real Real Stanton as long as he's getting 400 PA on the short side of a Lyle Overbay platoon.

Why are most managers so dumb? Why do they get seduced by meaningless sample sizes?

I didn't see this one coming.

Gibby is in love with Overbay

Kirk Gibson's turn-ons include candlelight dinners, fist pumps, and lots of ground balls to the second baseman

If asking Gibson, Goldschmidt is the one with the small sample size.
Another manager that likes his veterans.
Most fantasy driven players would be playing Goldschmidt and wouldn't let Collmenter have a sniff near the rubber, yet here we are.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Real Real Stanton won't get to 20hr this season. on top of frequent "rest" days, da Marlins will be out of playoff race and stanton will opt for knee surgery, missing the final 2 months of season.

Interesting. Kirk Gibson chooses to start the mighty Overbay over Paul (Stanton 10 rounds later) Goldschmidt bypassing Goldschmidt's potential power bat on a day when Arizona would also be without the power bats of Justin Upton and Chris Young. The Mighty Overbay goes a typically mighty 0-4 bringing his BA to an unbenchable .222 and the D-Backs lose 2-1 to the powerful Pirates. Nice call Gibby.

Oh stop your bitching and just be glad you don't have Lester or Santana. Or do you? :o

Smoak .250 2 HR 6 R 6 RBI
Goldy locks .200 1 HR 4 R 6 RBI

Just saying ;)
