FAAB Bidding Week 2!
Well, how much does Santiago Casilla and/or Sergio Romo go for this week? Will Ellsbury's replacement get any love? A lot of questions this week, good luck all...

Interesting that SF put in Casilla in the 8th for 1.2 innings, no sign of Romo. Makes the picture even more muddled with Romo and Casilla...

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
Well, in my NFBC XII league, to my surprise Omar Infante was still there, so I went big on him, over $400. Also bid higher on Danny Duffy. I also put a bid in for supposed new SF closer Casilla but only for the mid $100s, so I don't think I'll get him. I'm sure we'll see some crazy bids on him. I have Romo so if Casilla can't make it work, I have his backup. One last major bid I did was for Jordan Schafer in my smaller satellite league, bid around $200...
I want Infante, and hope I get him here in about an hour in my Online Championship and NFBC XII leagues, because Brandon Phillips is my 2B, and I'd like to have a quality backup with Phillips injury issues this year.
Good luck everyone, I hope you get who you want. Post your thoughts here for Week 2 FAAB, should be interesting!

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
Casilla was FAAB'd last week in my Main Event league - kudos there. I'm wondering what sort of bids came in on Shaw and the potential Marlins subs in case something is wrong with Heath Bell.
Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
I could see Shaw and the Marlin RPs going for solid middle-range bids in some lges and being non-rostered in others. I went low triple-digits on Casilla, not expecting to win him based on recent closer craziness.Jeff Erickson wrote:Casilla was FAAB'd last week in my Main Event league - kudos there. I bid $65 in my XII. Solid hitters like Infante are usually there for reasonable prices in 12-teamers all season.ChiScottieBaseball wrote:Well, in my NFBC XII league, to my surprise Omar Infante was still there, so I went big on him, over $400. Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
I put in bids on Castilla and Romo but for well less than $100. I guess I will get neither, but I think that is a better outcome than blowing too much of my FAAB money on an unclear closer situation.
I'd really like to get Schaffer but I lowered my bid shortly before the deadline because in retrospect I think I got carried away. It will be interesting to see what he goes for.

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
Good point, KJ. I'm so used to playing 14 teamers, didn't play any this year, that I think sometimes I get carried away with the 12 team leagues. But, I really needed a 2B and it seems like this is Infante's year. I tend to use most of my FAAB Budget early, however, this year I am trying to space myself out but that will be hard to do with my large bids on Infante...
Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
went after Infante and Reimhold this week. So far the crazy closer season has not affected me....yet.

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
400+ for infante in a 12 teamer seems pretty insane. i might have bid around $75 if i needed a MI
Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
marlins RP core is a cluster. remember leo nunez will be back next month. bell only loses it if he passes away. btw, who is shaw??KJ Duke wrote:I could see Shaw and the Marlin RPs going for solid middle-range bids in some lges and being non-rostered in others. Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
My OC team I think can compete for the overall title but i have only 1 closer (Street) after Storen's injury.
I drafted Reed & Pestano but neither look close any time soon. I tried to get Marshall or Broxton last week but bids of $400+ & $300+ didn't win.
So i've bid crazy on Casilla today. Go big or go home right?

unless i'm missing something, he is 3rd in line. seems like a weekly "closer sniffer" that will never pan out.Glenneration X wrote:JJ Putz, 20 rounds later.Gekko wrote: btw, who is shaw??
Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
i can't see anyone in the giants pen being "the guy". lopez will vulture enough 1/3 of an inning saves (vs lefties) to hurt romo or casilla's value.

well results in and the runner up bid was $56. I'm not going to share what my bid wasGekko wrote:i can't see anyone in the giants pen being "the guy". lopez will vulture enough 1/3 of an inning saves (vs lefties) to hurt romo or casilla's value.

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
I agree that the Giants pen will likely be a mess. I've put in a few lighter bids in hopes of just getting a stake on the roulette wheel. It'll eventually pan out I'm sure and we'll see which of the betters win out. It kind of reminds me of last season with the Cards that one week when both Salas and Sanchez were being bid on heavily dependant on who read what tea leaves that FAAB Sunday.

Matt - I did the same thing for a similar reason and let go of Reed to roster him with a crazy $401 bid. Runner up was $224. I came down from $443 then up again from $375. My team is off to a great start save the saves - so I went big. Easier to do it in an OC league since there are always $1 options throughout the year.
As for those discounting Casilla - one thing to remember about the Giants is their pitching staff is good which means more low scoring games and more save opps. I think the real wild card now is Myers and where/when he gets dealt.

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
someone dropped roy oswalt in my one main event
Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!
So then why did you bid on and win him in LV3?Gekko wrote:unless i'm missing something, he is 3rd in line. seems like a weekly "closer sniffer" that will never pan out.Glenneration X wrote:JJ Putz, 20 rounds later.Gekko wrote: btw, who is shaw??

He might be to H-Rodriguez as D-Hernandez's is to Clippard. Btw, I outbid you by a dollar but won my next higher conditional.

Probably tired of waiting for him to sign somewhere. It's already middle of April

Not sure why I thought Rick Ankiel would get bids. My $58 bid was $56 more than the $2 I needed.
