SP Who Am I?

Post by Gekko » Sun Apr 22, 2012 7:13 pm

There's a pitcher who has started 8 games the past two years and has posted the following stats:

M 46.3 IP
A 37 HA
R 18 ER
C 10 BB (1.9 per 9)
O 42 K (8.2 per 9)
3.50 ERA
1.01 Whip

Furthermore, the last 4 games he's started, his stats:
E 22.0 IP
S 13 HA
T 4 ER
R 2 BB (0.8 per 9)
A 21 K (8.6 per 9)
D 1.64 ERA 8-)
A 0.68 Whip 8-)

He just got picked up in a bunch of leagues. Who am I?

All those numbers that Gekko threw out at us (as if each of us didn't know them already) and yet he couldn't beat out Chris Narveson or Randy Wolf for a starting job this preseason. Not exactly the back end of last year's Philly staff that he was trying to break into.

Now don't get me wrong, this is from someone who bid often on Estrada this weekend (and lost everywhere). It just makes you wonder what Milwaukee management knows that we don't. I wouldn't go cashing the $100K check just yet because of this buy. ;)

As long as we're going into ancient history, there was a time Nolan Ryan couldn't stick in the Mets rotation as well.
Hopefully Estrada works out as well for you guys as Ryan did for the Angels. ;)

Good Luck with Estrada Mark.

I have another question - How about your boy Hochevar? I see you haven't cut bait on him yet. I ask only cause I just grabbed him for a buck in my OCL. Still feeling good about his prospects?

I took the Estrada plunge, probably paying more than most @ $179 (runnerup $14). I lost Narveson and Capuano went for $178 last week. I actually really like Estrada and expect him to be in the rotation for the rest of the season. It may take an injury to Wolf or Marcum, but I think he's a 25 start guy. It is a risk with Peralta and Fiers looming, but I'll take my chances.
