in a 12 teamer, he's not even worth a bid

FP Santangelo would disagree with you. His quote last night was brilliant, "It's like watching Roy Hobbs before the gunshot wound."Gekko wrote:is he worth a bid in a 15 teamer, sure, if u are desperate for OF. even then, he's similar to most $10-$20 FAAB targets that gets recycled each week via FAAB

i didn't expect bauer to be up until Super 2.ALL-IN JD wrote:If only he was matching the production you were getting from Bauer right now!
that's what makes America great. we can agree to disagree. i have his minor league stats and his very young age on my side. He was available in an NFBC X11 league this past weekend, Mike Trout and Kenly Jansen were also available in the same league. This was the only league of mine that any of them were available. I wanted to get either Trout or Harper as I already had 3 closers. Here's how it played outGlenneration X wrote:It's all about ceiling and the ability to be a potential difference maker. It may not happen this season for all the reasons Gekko points out, but Bryce's is as high as just about anyone's and certainly as high as anyone we can expect to see in FAAB this year.
Rules of thumb work on average, and following them is probably a good strategy to avoid having the worst team in the league. Not so much a great strategy for having the best team.Gekko wrote:that's what makes America great. we can agree to disagree. i have his minor league stats and his very young age on my side. Except RT, by your numbers, your World Series manager just put the equivalent of Mike Aviles or Chase Headley in the 3-hole of a contending team. Just saying this to put his fantasy impact in perspective.RoundTrippers wrote: my prediction is that he will hit 277, 12 homeruns and steal 13 bases(400 ab)
I'll up your 12/13 ante RT! My pre-season was: 270-15-15, 55/55, in 411 AB. Have Harper or Trout on almost every team, like what I see in week one for them.ToddZ wrote:Except RT, by your numbers, your World Series manager just put the equivalent of Mike Aviles or Chase Headley in the 3-hole of a contending team. I actually think your estimation is reasonable. Some are expecting much more.
So you've raised the bar to Asdrubal/Melky Cabrera -- which any of us would take "for free" with a reserve or some FAAB.KJ Duke wrote:

in the past 10 years, please name all of the difference making 19 year olds in the major leagues. the past 10 years contains thousands of players so u should easily be able to rattle off a bunch of them, right?KJ Duke wrote: Rules of thumb work on average, and following them is probably a good strategy to avoid having the worst team in the league. This comparison doesn't work. You and I both know there are almost none. But that doesn't mean he won't succeed simply because he's 19. This kid is like Tiger Woods competing at age 19 - he's been in the spotlight his entire life, has skills far exceeding the normal 19 year old, and appears to be able to handle the pressure.Gekko wrote:in the past 10 years, please name all of the difference making 19 year olds in the major leagues. the past 10 years contains thousands of players so u should easily be able to rattle off a bunch of them, right?KJ Duke wrote: Rules of thumb work on average, and following them is probably a good strategy to avoid having the worst team in the league. since the time is now and stats prevail, can i get his thru 4 games please, thanks much!Gekko wrote:I hate to be the messenger, but you’ve been sold a 12hr/10sb .250 guy (think poor man’s Josh Reddick) masquerading as Hunter Pence. I don’t care if he’s the most advanced 19 year old EVER. The truth of the matter is Harper couldn’t excel against AA pitchers this year. How is he going to excel against major league pitchers this year? Actual stats always prevail over the hype machine. Give him a year or two before he becomes a difference maker.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo conceded that it's unlikely Bryce Harper will be sent back down to the minors.Gekko wrote:0hr and 0sb?RoundTrippers wrote: since the time is now and stats prevail, can i get his thru 4 games please, thanks much!
