Favor from my fellow NFBCers
Favor from my fellow NFBCers
I'm working on a follow-up to a piece I did for ESPN, which has morphed into some risk tolerance discussion, something I admit is a weakness in my NFBC game.
Here's the question. If you could only have one of these two players for the rest of the season, which would it be, and please specify (and include answers) for both the 12 team and 15 team formats.
Bryan LaHair or Gaby Sanchez?
Bryan LaHair or Michael Cuddyer?
Bryan LaHair or Adrian Gonzalez?
One more request -- if you own one of these guys in either the Classic or XII, can you post their % own and % start?
THANKS!!!!

LaHair over Sanchez
Cuddyer and Gonzo over LaHair
Format doesn't matter to me for this question.

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
Same as Bob.
The most questionable may be LaHair over Sanchez. That Miami ball park is playing large. A little like CitiSouth. LaHair has hit these bombs before the winds at Wrigley become favorable. If Sanchez has a batting average advantage over LaHair at the end of the season, it'll be made up by LaHair's power numbers.
Also, there is the cloud that Stanton could be moved to the National League dh spot that is first base.
Sanchez could lose playing time.

On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Bryan LaHair over Gaby Sanchez- as long as LaHair does'nt lose playing time, which i don't think he will as they are making plans for him in the OF, after they trade or release Soriano.

Adrian Gonzalez over Bryan LaHair - Lahair may very well end up with more HR's, but AGON will outperform im in BA and RBI.

Cuddyer in the Main, 100%,98.3%, am surprised he is not 100/100...

That is surprising, but what surprises me even more is how anyone can be 98.3% when the number of leagues is 28. The numbers don't jive. Henry Rodriguez is 99.2 % owned in main which implies there are at least 118 leagues and also implies he is available somewhere which I believe to be unlikely.Rainiers wrote:Ditto.Hells Satans wrote:LaHair over Sanchez

LaHair is 100/100 in XII and Cuddyer is 100/ 95.2 in XII
Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
% owned could possible include satellites - we'd need to ask IT about that.
Being less than 100% is not too surprising as some may be using Cuddyer mostly at home and he is in PETCO now.

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
For people deciding this, it's probably worth noting that LaHair has a .510 BABIP and a 30% K rate.
One of those is sustainable.

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
LaHair is completely unusable vs lefties (career .267 slugging)
LaHair has struckout in 24 of 75 AB vs righties
Over the long haul, K-rate should starting hurting his value. With that said, I’d only take him over G.Sanchez

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
Gaby, Cuddyer and AdGonz over Lahair for the rest of the year. In 12 or 15.
I have Gonzalez in XII and he is 100%/100%

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
If all 4 of these players were free agents, Gonzalez would cost the most by far. Cuddyer finishes handily in second and Sanchez and LaHair would be pretty close, depending on how much one believes in LaHair. Of course, all of this is dependent on getting by Zman's collusion accusations.
Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
With LaHair having a hit rate of slightly over 50% ,which is not sustainable for the rest of the year, I'd take Cuddyer or Gonzalez over LaHair. Cuddyer's move to COl allows him 81 games a year in a great hitter's park plus he'll swipe 10-12 SB's too and when LaHair's hit rate normalizes and his BA comes down, Cuddyer will hit for a better BA too. Gonzalez will break out of his hitting funk and outperform LaHair across the board.

Re: Favor from my fellow NFBCers
I think the remaining updated ZIPS projection is about right.
