who cares about the above. this isn't a keeper league. part of the reason i'm a harper poopoo'er is because he is very young and inexperienced.Outlaw wrote:
I'm sure if Haprer had as much Minor seasoning as Trout, he might be "furthur along"
Trout - 4 MILB seasons 286 games 1312 AB's
Harper- 2 MILB seasons 129 games 534 AB's
Exactly my point, its not a keeper league and there wont be anyone dropping him this year anytime soon, unless he gets injured. He still looks pretty good for being 19 and inexperianced. theres no doubt its fun to watch him and thats good for baseball and its fans.Gekko wrote:who cares about the above. this isn't a keeper league. part of the reason i'm a harper poopoo'er is because he is very young and inexperienced.Outlaw wrote:

Who would you rather have ... and would it make a difference is Player A was a 3rd round pick and Player B was a 19th round pick?
Who are these mystery players?
Player A recently was suspended for an equipment tossing incident, also, he was drafted by a Gekko in Round 3. Meanwhile, this same Gekko believes that Player B, based on his numbers, should be in the minors.![]()

Truth be told, the pro-harper folks have nothing factual to point to in their defense of him so they need to try and confuse the issue by saying how young he is or comparing him against other more proven players or saying he “looks good”. Bahaha!!! I’m surprised pro-harper folks aren’t saying he’s better than Poodles. Pro-harper owners bought into hype…nothing more. Again, sorry for being the messenger.
FACTS
*AA stats weren’t very good (including peripheral stats supporting not being able to handle lefties)
*Major league stats aren’t very good (including peripheral stats supporting not being able to handle lefties)
*Plays bad defense (3 errors already; throws to wrong base)
*Plays outfield (not a premium position)
*Hot-headed
Where are the stats showing a breakout is imminent? Thought so
Stats, especially minor lge stats based on a whole 37 games, don't tell the whole story Mr. Schandl ... Gekko. Errors do not equal bad defense, great arm+speed offsets errors. Young players tend to make more mistakes but make plays that others can't, we've already seen this with Harper. Hot-headed is part of your defense? That's the only game where Lawrie has a clear edge!Gekko wrote:Player A dominated the minors. Player B floundered in the minors. "best prospect of the generation". haha!! we hear that every couple of years for different players until they undoubtedly underperform. The Mighty Men wrote:Gekko, I know you like to stubbornly stick to your guns, but arguing against perhaps the best prospect of the generation is going to be a losing cause. He had a small sample size in AA, so it doesn't help either side.
i agree joe. trout is a monster (plus plus sb)Money wrote:The special talent you should be talking about is Mike Trout. He will supply first round numbers the rest of the way. I'd take his career over Harper's and he's ready now. Mr. Gekko you cannot find fault with his minor league resume. This kid is the real deal!!!
Unfortunately I only have him on one of my NFBC XII teams and that was through FAAB. I thought Scocia would hold him back until the all-star break, but then a funny thing happened in Anaheim, Scocia isn't pulling all the strings anymore. He's wearing out his welcome.Gekko wrote:i agree joe. trout is a monster (plus plus sb)Money wrote:The special talent you should be talking about is Mike Trout. I'll take the plus Avg, runs and SB's. Nothing to suggest the power diminishes so far. According to ESPN he has been the second most productive hitter in the American League since his call up on April 28th.Gekko wrote:seeing how trout is still very young, expectations have to be tempered a bit. but the sb and leadoff duties will keep his value high even if the power diminishes some
