Dickey
Dickey
Yes I am a Mets fan, so maybe I show a little bias, but considering he is the only active pure knuckleballer in baseball today, I think we might have to start taking this guy seriously as one of the top pitchers in baseball. He doesn't walk guys like your typical knuckleballer so his WHIP is good, his knuckleball is almost unhittable by even the best hitters in the game, and he actually throws a halfway decent fastball. On top of the fact he is one of the best fielding pitchers in baseball. To top it off, he strikes out 10+ hitters in 2 straight wins. Granted it was the Padres and Pirates, but still, you have to be impressed with this guy who went undrafted in many fantasy leagues and will likely be an all star.

Re: Dickey
BK -- nice writeup on Mr Dickey. Even though I'm a Phils fan -- I like watching him pitch and baffle major league hitters with his junk. You also have to respect a guy who battled against the odds --- this guy should have and would have been out of baseball years ago if he didn't learn the knuckler. Put him on the all star team.
Re: Dickey
Absolutely dominant.... 0 BB 12 K - Complete game 1 hitter - He is now 10-1 - 58 Ks and 4 BB over last 6 starts - Great story
Re: Dickey
the best money spent in the mlbc leagues ,$43 big ones ,now if I could of just drafted him on my main team

Re: Dickey
The story of how he became a knuckleballer is quite remarkable too. Boy, wish I had believed enough to draft him in my ME league. Dickey vs Price. Both pitched in my home town of Nashville. One a star in high school here (MBA) and the latter in college (Vandy). Great to see them both having great success.

Re: Dickey
If this keeps up he is going to have to change his name to C.Y. Dickey as in "Cy Young"
Re: Dickey
Amazing. Can't remember a dominant stretch like this from a pitcher in a long time. 2 straight 1 hitters and 42 2/3 IP with no earned runs. The latest is a complete game 1 hitter with 13Ks

Re: Dickey
Feel Good Story of the Year, Bar none. Heavy Favorite for cy young now.
Re: Dickey
And one thing that is guaranteed. There will be NO partial tear of the UCL for this guy, since he doesn't have one.
Re: Dickey
I had heard that a few years ago and forgot about it. I wonder if it will ever become an option for others. Dickey sure might have a career as a coach when he is done in about 10 years, teaching guys who throw 85-90 the knuckler and how to mix it in.BK METS wrote:And one thing that is guaranteed. Re: Dickey
Repeat after me, fellas:
CY - YOUNG
You gotta love this story! Here is the thing about knuckleballers: it takes a while to master the pitch, which R.A. has obviously done.

Re: Dickey
And to think I drafted him last year, dropped him and completely missed out on all his success. Dang it! Amazing work by hi
Congrats to all who believed!
