why do I think that some owner, new to the NFBC and not overly familiar with this board, will look at that list and, seeing Prince Fielder in the Brewers infield grouping, will assume he is 1B eligible.
Some will incorrectly equate this list with position eligibility.

Not that he will have much draft interest but I've read that Alan Embree is likely to be on the Padres opening day roster.

Hey Tom,
If I missed it somewhere in the threads I apologize, but when are we getting the position eligibility lists? And how are we getting them?
thanks

I just received my second email today from
NFBC Newsletter
BOTH were blank with no viewable content. I have not had a single problem up until now. Has something changed? I have done nothing on my end. I have and still am using Hotmail.com.

Being that Fielder played 7 games at 1b and 5 at dh in 2005, I believe the only position he is eligible to play is 1b.

I have a real problem with this list. Yes, it lists all the players eligible to be drafted, but it doesn't do squat in terms of position eligibility. Grouping a bunch of players under "Infielder" is not the same as 2B or 1B/3B etc. This "official" list has Fielder as an infielder, when we know he will only be listed as a DH until he plays 10 games. I was hoping for a more definitive list that would kill controversy as opposed to creating it!

This 40-man roster sheet is not designed to help you on Draft Day with finding the best first baseman. You can use our Fantasy Sports Magazine Cheat Sheets for that. This list tells you which players you CAN draft, which is much different than what you're asking for. Use our Cheat Sheets to find out that Fielder is just eligibile at DH.

Thanks for the clarification. I have been using the other cheat sheets, so I'm glad there's no problem!
NFBC Eligibility List Online
Just for clarification...if a player isn't listed on the fantasy sports cheat sheets, do the position eligibility rules listed within the rules apply then? Just as an example, some Triple A 3rd baseman who played in the last three games of last season at 3rd gets thrown into the starting lineup due to a rash of injuries. Being that he only played in 3 games and all at third, will he still qualify even though he's not on the cheat sheet list?

Fielder starts out as DH, because his primary position last season was pinch hitter, not 1B

Greg,
Just a recommendation, but I would provide the Proctors with a cheat sheet of some highly touted Propsects that are not eligible for the draft (ie Not on the 40 Man Roster). I would hate to see a situation where the proctor doesn't know the answer and some of the managers get into some big debate in the middle of the draft.
Not that I think the chances of these players being drafted are high, but sometimes people take flyers on these guys in the last round.
The 3 I have noticed right off the bat are the following:
Billinglsy, Barton, and Wood

Since I am slow, let me parrot back my understanding of what this thread says and then Greg and Tom can correct me if I am wrong.
As I read it:
1. The two pages of eligible players linked to the first note in this thread, including the 30 additional names listed at the bottom right of the NL page, constitutes the universe of players who are eligible to be drafted or purchased during auctions;
2. The cheatsheets in the magazines, as updated by the OFFICIAL version at www.fantasysportsmag.com, should be consulted to determine the official position eligibility of the universe of eligible players identified in paragraph 1 above;
3. Any player who may happen to be listed on the cheatsheets at a particular position, such as Todd Greene and Jason Phillips at catcher, but who are NOT LISTED anywwhere on the rosters identified in paragraph 1 above, ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE DRAFTED even though they are on the cheatsheets.
Am I reading this correctly?
Thanks,
BB

You are correct, but I'm surprised that you say that Greene and Phillips aren't on 40-man rosters. Is that true?

Billinglsy, Barton, and Wood I know we added Brandon Wood to the list. As for some of the other prospects, yeah we had to put a cutoff somewhere. If Barton or Billingsley get called up during the season, that will be good for those with FAAB dollars left.
