Ditto! Let's get the first SD $150 going by next week. I need to begin to get the taste of sh*t out of my mouth from this year as soon as possible.

I appreciate the appetite to get started right away on Slow Drafts, but let's enjoy the post-season for a bit first. It's critical for us to get position eligibility correct for all MLB players and minor-leaguers before we roll out the draft software. That will take a little bit of time and it's also important that we load the software with enough top prospects who didn't reach the minors this year so that we can avoid Placeholders as much as possible for these early drafts. Please give us time to get all of that done.

We have every intention of starting these at some point in November and not before. Again, you can see the responses when things aren't perfect and in order for us to run a national championship in the slow draft format we need to get the position eligibility locked down correctly and a good player default list in place. But we'll definitely have this ready sooner than last season.

We will roll out the same draft software for these early drafts, but we are tweaking things there. More details on all of our online draft changes will come once we have that finalized, but I think we'll change things a little bit there after we get the drafting season going. We won't hold back the start of things for the new design/software.

And this national championship will now be called the NFBC Draft Champions National Championship like we have in the NFFC. That's exactly what it is: A contest to prove who is the best drafter. The Slow Draft has a bad symbolism, plus we have these DC drafts in one night. So onward we go with a new name.

Dan Kenyon will likely unveil his email league in October and after the World Series we'll announce our Draft Champions plans. Be prepared because we're as excited about this upcoming draft season as you are. Thanks all.

Greg, any chance we can maybe get a 12 team Draft Champions league? Probably wouldnt reach the success of the 15 teamer but I think you could perhaps get it to where there is around a $5000 prize for the overall champ.

I see you do AL and NL only auctions. How about online NL and AL only leagues?

Either way, thanks for the fun season.

Greg,
Tell your Tech guys and whomever is coming up with the position eligibility that with each passing day, you guys are leaving revenue on the table. I think you can fill at least a couple of these a week, even now.

At least Dough has come to the rescue. Fifteen of us doing an email draft right now since yesterday, and we're mid-round three. Let's get the ones through STATS up and running ASAP. There are in fact a large number of us, Greg, who due to our superior intellect, class, and unwillingness to lower ourselves to the level of fantasy football, basketball, and God forbid, hockey, make fantasy baseball our one and only priority in our lives year round as we think it should be.
   So please do what you can to accommodate this stellar population of your best clientele. Thank you for your prompt consideration and attention to this matter.

Oh, trust me guys, we know how insatiable you folks are. We know we could fill up a Slow Draft a week right after the MLB season. But we also know we have 5 months to go before Draft Day. We also know that correcting position eligibility and updating the player default list and everything else once drafts are going is tougher than doing it all correctly right away. We also have to get Registration ready for 2013 and finalize all entry fees, prizes and venues. Again, it's not all on IT to get this done. It's on me and Tom to get all of this data ready to be added to the site.

Enjoy the MLB playoffs and when they are done we'll be on plan for getting Slow Drafts rolling earlier than ever. We understand your needs and we'll be ready to go in November. But it takes a few other items to get set up before we turn the ON switch on. We're on it.

Agreed. Let's get this party started. Loving do an email draft now in round 18 with a great group thanks to Dough, but the system should be set up to go by now. There should really never be an end to fantasy baseball season. Regardless of the statistics, it is the king of all fantasy sports, and deserves to get the royal treatment on behalf of its loyal subjects. :D

I don't consider you subjects Mike!! You are higher on the totem pole than that.

The guys are getting the web site updated as we speak. We really are far ahead in our planning and I'll start announcing some of the contest details shortly. We're working on all the rest like Registration and the draft room as well. November will be here in no time. Let's get through the MLB post-season first and before you know it we'll get the Slow Drafts going.

If it helps I'll start a signup list shortly for the first Slow Drafts. That will show all of us how much this needs to be set up and drafts going. Thanks guys. You folks really are the best SUBJECTS anyone could have!!

Mike - I wouldn't mind having a LIVE Draft Champions draft in NY/NJ at a bar/conference room some Saturday in December and/or January. Maybe a $375 or $500 entry fee to make it interesting. Since it would be tough to draft 50 rounds in one sitting, maybe we draft the first 30 rounds LIVE, then have STATS load the lineups and do the remaining 20 rounds via slow draft. Is this something you'd be interested in? If so, let's make it happen! 8-)

REALLY love this idea, Mark. Let's make it happen. I'll support it anyway that I can. We'll easily fill this thing up. I think $500 at a minimum is a good price point for this. Would be a blast to do something like this in December/January. Message me, but we should also get a thread going on it now! 8-)

Please do it at $375 if you want to do it on the STATS site. I'm all for it and we can load the first 30 rounds online rather quickly if you want to do it that way and finish the draft on our site. But we have to have consistent price levels that are already in our system to run them on our site. But I also like the idea and would love to see it happen. Good idea.

Hey Gekko! Let's make this LIVE meet up and draft happen in December! I know of a few guys I'm drafting with now who'd make the trip into NJ or vicinity to do this thing. I can easily set up a nice venue and dinner afterwards for those who make the trek. Let's get some legs under this thing and get it filled up so that I can begin to make the necessary arrangements!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

I've had a somewhat earlier night than planned last night, so I'm up early today. Just can't hang like i use to. Waking up at 5am every day gets you in that mold and going to bed early and waking up early. tough to break.

Anyways...let's do it! I'd suggest the $375 buy-in. In addition, if anyone wants to throw in another $100 (or whatever), I could hold the money until the season is over and then release the additional funds to the winner(s). for instance, if we got all 15 guys to throw in another $100, that's $1,500. Since the $375 buy-in gets 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place the same prize ($1,400), maybe the additional prize money could be split up 75%/25% ($1,050 and $450) between 1st and 2nd place.

What kind of venue could you get? I'd suggest a place that has a decent nightlife around, ie a couple good bars.

basically, i could do any saturday in December. what do you think? let's try and finalize as much as we can before starting a sign-up list.

Weekends in December are ridiculously busy for me, but if the date worked, I would consider. Sounds like a blast.

Let me know when. I would get in if available.

Mike,
Could you get some kind of Iron Man type contest going?
Like 1 AL only league...1 NL only...1 draft champions and 1 regular free agent league...
We would have to go with 12 teams and have the entry high enough to make worthwhile for Greg, since it would consist of four 12 team leagues. (Greg, is this even possible?)
Maybe $2500 to get in...add point totals from each league.
If you think about it...anyone interested has a 1 in 10 chance if winning, since Mike and I are both dead money.

Come on Mike!!!! Let make this happen! :)
Maybe w can even mix in an auction league...if auction not possible, no worries, just want to see a good mix of leagues in one contest.

Greg, if this is a possibility, those who sign up, could keep an overall tally of total points from all leagues combined. We could use a thread, no extra system requirements beyond any current functionality.

I am not a big fan of the side bet thing, but I'd be willing to drive down to participate in a draft like the one being proposed. I will try to stay on top of the boards. Thanks, Dave Taylor Niagara Falls.

Since it appears as though this one is falling on me, I will gladly accept the challenge. Having just loaded up the last pair of animals here in NJ (hyenas I think they were), I have some free time on my hands. I will reserve us an executive board room at the Sheraton Crossroads Hotel in Mahwah, NJ for the first 15 who would like to commit to doing a live early draft on Saturday, December 1st. It's a nice venue that is convenient to get to from most points in NJ, NY, and CT for those of you who made the trip in last year for the first weekend drafts there. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel, or we can all go off site to any one of numerous locations that would fit the bill quite nicely. I can also have it catered through the hotel as well, doing lunch there before we start and then dinner afterwards either there or someplace else. I have a long standing business relationship with this hotel, so I probably can get the room for nothing, and we can all pitch in for the food, drinks, draft board, etc. These particulars can be worked out later, so for now let's get a sign-up thread going if you can, Greg, starting with me and Gekko. :D. I like the idea of making this a $375 with an extra cash kicker so that first and second place are more appropriately rewarded as Gekko had outlined. I think this makes sense given that we're all making a trip in and some extra skin in the game would increase the stakes a bit to make it worth it to compete in this event all that much more. So who's in? Let's fill this thing up quickly so I can finalize arrangements. Should be a blast! 8-)

I would like to get this thing closed out quickly so that I can make the arrangements with the hotel and finalize all the logistics. Thanks. :D
