in any event, if i recall correctly (and I do), i was very surprised at your closers (or lackthereof) after the draft and told you such. i told you specifically that "you can't win the 100K while punting saves."

You're supposed to take one for the team, dog. You like blaming Thome and Foulke, I like blaming you. I tell my wife all the time, "Mark said I should have a few more", or "the strip club was Mark's idea."

on the other hand Tampa 3 has zero league champs from last year and 8 owners who didn't play the nfbc last year. Oh boy, here we go again. Tom might want to set up a chat for 11pm to discuss this matter.
i'm not sure there's anything to discuss. just wanted to see if anyone had a tougher job then old gekko does.

again, my numbers were done quickly. if someone can confirm, that would be appreciated.
sounds like gecko is making excuses already!!! dont worry, football season is around the corner, this baseball thing will be over soon for you

Greg and Tom...

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I have a possible solution to your "final league...or even final two" for next year...

Write into the rules that any city that cannot fill a full 15 team league...will be matched up with the other cities to finalize a full 15 team league. First to fill leagues will not need to worry about being in the final league...priority is given to those who signed up earliest, but the final league is more like a live "satelite" type league with cash payouts and all...but that "final league" will not count toward the NFBC championship.

Kind of a win-win for the late birds...they get in...expirience the fun...and play for big enough league money...knowing that they shouldn't sit on their hands/wallets next season or risk it happening again. The only thing they don't get is their stats being counted toward the overall NFBC championship. (...and the big bucks)

~Lance Yes, the "Snooze, you lose" clause will be added for football and going forward for baseball. Unfortunately, three early signups in Tampa got caught in the phone league this year with the random drawing, but all three seem to be great NFBC die-hards who took it well. We did right this year, but we'll add the clause going forward. That way all of you guys who sign up early know there are benefits to doing so.

We do have some mad folks who signed up this weekend and wish we had waited through Sunday. But honestly I'm not sure we could have hit 345 anyway and now you guys have had more time to prepare for your draft spots. Also, next year there will be a little emphasis on signing up early. Several owners were left out of the NFBC Ultimate Leagues and now the main event and hopefully next year we'll just fill all of those up sooner.

Good luck everyone.

I would think Greg that the MLB e-mail needs to come out much, much sooner to be of any benefit to the NFBC. Since there are live drafts held in four different locations and people need time to arrange work schedules and travel arrangements, an e-mail a couple of days before cutoff is basically of no value other then to make people aware of the event and monitor it for a hopeful entry in 2007 and beyond.
