Sort of like everyone in the MtM was last year. ;)

Just kidding Mikey, you know we're Buds. I'm glad to hear you're making it out to Sin City this year. It'll make it even more of a blast.

Well Glenn, if there is anyone who knows all about begging, it would be you. But for the sake of decorum, I will leave it at that.   I know bud, looking forward to seeing you out there, and of course to you redeeming yourself in the MTM the following week in NYC. ;)

Redeeming myself? Dude, I thought I cashed in the MtM and got paid a cool $5K, of which some of that dough once belonged to you. :P If that needs redemption, what would you need....a quartet of exorcists?

By the way, I double checked on your claim of a half dozen leagues you and I have been in that I've done poorly in over the past two years. We've been in exactly 4 leagues together and I've cashed in 3. That's the highest ratio of cashes I have against any player in the NFBC. Hmmmm.....easier competition maybe? Greg, please add me to any leagues Massotto is entered in this season.

All joking aside Bud, I just thought of the prospects of MtM in Sin City.....yikes! The showgirls better be on the lookout.

What now you need a sponsor? What is this, f*ing NASCAR now?!! Start leaning on your rich relatives over the holidays. It's not like I have Jupinka money myself...or mysterious Fleming financing for that matter.

 I will take that as a compliment. And that cool 5K you won? About half that should kick back to me for tolerance for the insufferable shit that I went through last year to get you to commit and show up after you had committed to me in the first place months earlier. I expect a simple, "Yes, I will be there this year in New York, and I'm looking forward to it again. Thanks for having me back." from you this year. :D

Hilarious thread -- and even funnier because you know everyone will be quiet as church mice once the draft begins.

Biggest question I have: is this the undercard, or the prize fight? Whatever the case, put me down on the list of interested parties.

Being a 12-teamer with less bucks in the pot, it sounds more like an Emerald or Sapphire.

Glenn, call it what you want, but I'm sensing this is fast becoming the event in the NFBC this year (second only to the 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan MTM Invitational LIVE Super Event in NYC the following Friday ;) ) Let me know if you have interest in jumping into this as well if there is an opening. I haven't heard from everyone yet, but I have a waiting list going! It will be a blast just like last year. :D And FYI...there will be no church mice allowed in this draft!!!

So KJ, I take it you'll be in for a second Diamond? I wouldn't want to have too much of a chance of winning the thing, so you need to get in and level the playing field a bit with your expertise. ;) Looking forward to meeting you out there, my friend...and I have tried to contact you about settling our "Yu vs. U" side bet from last year.

Not sure I have another $10k lying around to invest, but an inaugural Emerald/Sapphire sure does sound tempting - especially with the list of participants. 8-)

So just a few more things to sweeten up this second Diamond that's coming together nicely for Saturday night. I see that Greg had suggested early on in this thread an idea that I came up with last year for my Super here in NJ that really added a lot of suspense, anticipation, and fun to the event, which was the "Iron Balls KDS Draft Position Draw". We essentially all put our names in a hat, and Tom called us out as our names were drawn, and we chose our draft position and consequently our seat at the draft table right on the spot! Given the talent at this level (yes, yes myself excluded of course, ha ,ha  ), I think we should all be able to hack it. It will make for good t.v. and radio, and a lot of fun. It also does throw a bit of a monkey wrench into the plans of those who like to scout the other competitors to see where they like to draft and who they've been drafting from those draft positions in earlier drafts that they've perhaps been doing in preparation for the big ones. So who is game for this? In other words, who has church mouse balls, or Iron Balls?.

The other thing that I thought of and threw out there to some of the powers that be today, is that since this is as high stakes as it gets for a fantasy baseball competition, and we will be in Vegas after all, there is no reason why we, our fellow NFBC competitors, and whoever else cares to, shouldn't be able to lay bets on the outcome of this competition. Fan Duel did it with their big final event after having Rotogrinders I believe set the odds for each of the finalists. So why can't we? Who is for this idea? Greg, please weigh in on this one. I don't think it would be too difficult to set up as long as we can find someone to lay down the money for it to back it. Scott Fleming is going to be contacting you on this as a matter of fact, but I just wanted to post it here to get some feedback from everyone.

And last but not least, I have to say that there is one name that is quite conspicuously missing from the list of Diamond competitors for some inexplicable reason that I'm failing to comprehend. A man who is a legendary winner in the NFBC who knows his shit (pig and otherwise) better than most anyone who has ever competed in the history of the NFBC other than maybe "The Immortal One", Steve Jupinka. (Steve asked me to write that part  ). So Mr. Lindy Hinkelman, I am calling on you to step to the plate and ante up for 2013, and to join the rest of the big boys instead of simply continuing to haplessly pummel the inferior ranks of generic competitors who you have so skillfully and strategically preyed on all these years in your rise to super stardom in the NFBC. It may cause you to preempt your plans a bit for your night of debauchery on the Vegas strip, but I am sure that this will be a small sacrifice in the name of such noble competition which would be so unfortunately devoid of total satisfaction if you were to duck this event as you have done to date so far.

All this being said, Greg, if this gets Lindy to go for it, please make sure that he's not in my league...maybe swap him out with one of the guys in the other Diamond who would like to jump ship and get in this one instead. Thanks.

So the gauntlet has been thrown down!

Image

Shit. Wrong Gauntlet. Let's try that again: And so the gauntlet has been thrown down!

Image

That's better. ;)

Greg,
You mentioned earlier a 2nd Diamond a week later after the first one. Now it seems like we are moving towards two Diamonds the first weekend. I know you'll do it whenever the customers want it, but when will you finalize the actual date of the 2nd Diamond? I am tentative for a 2nd Diamond, but the times must work for me. Thanks.

I already have two Diamond dates on the Registration page:
Sunday, March 24th in Las Vegas
Monday, April 1st Online/Teleconference

Because of Easter, I knew it would be tough to get a fully live Diamond League that Second Weekend, so I proposed a date after Easter where we could do it online with a phone hookup for everyone to hear all of the picks. I know it's not ideal, but I didn't think folks wanted to do two on one weekend. Mike and Doughboys have proposed this Saturday night date and if the momentum is for this one, I'll gladly add or change the second date to this one. You guys tell me which direction to take here.

In future years when Easter isn't on the Second Weekend, we can definitely do a Diamond on the First Weekend and a Diamond on the Second Weekend if demand warrants it. I'm just trying to fit this in for everyone who wants to do it. And like yourself, there are 5-6 other owners who are interested in a second Diamond, so let's see which time and date works best for everyone. There definitely seems like interest is there to fill a second Diamond League.

I've never cashed in a 15 team event, so last year I gave them up and decided to concentrate on those events where I've had a little bit of success. I'm honestly not smart enough to be able to compete in multiple formats. I'm amazed by those who can do them all.

There will be a 12 team Diamond (yes KJ Diamond) :D or Ultimate this year if I have to buy out the darn thing myself. :D

Come on Greg, the second weekend was made for an inaugural 12 team event. Make the entry $10,001 and call it the Diamond plus 1 8-)

I'd be more interested in participating in a 12-team Sapphire than a second Diamond. I also think "THE Diamond" should remain "THE". ;) Have we run out of gems after one?

Joe, I must admit, I'm impressed. You say you've never cashed in a 15-Team Event, yet you want to jump head first into the highest stakes drafts there are in the NFBC with the sharks in this tank?!! You're either a trust fund baby who's got money to blow, or you have a set of jumbo elephant balls. And now for the appropriate use of a famous inappropriate post of an image I used last year in my Super thread.

This is funny!! Last years thread on your super was easily the seasons most entertaining. There is no trust fund simply a desire to compete against the best in a format which I believe gives me a chance. I had 3 NFBC XII teams last year with many of the accomplished NFBC veterans participating. I think I held my own. That Cocktails fellow was the only one to beat me and there is certainly no shame in that.

Mr. Lowy has pointed out that you've had a difficult time keeping up in these leagues. I sympathize with you and appreciate you trying to recruit a duck. I may try a 15 team main event next year but there will be no significant investment in a 15 team high stakes satellite.

As far as the balls go are these what is served at your house on Thanksgiving? We have Turkey at mine. :D

Keep it coming!!!!

Since this second Diamond League is now getting a lot of love, I've added it to our official NFBC Signup List and to the top post on this thread. I'll update the list in both areas. Andy Robinson has officially thrown his hat into the ring here. We may be getting closer to a second Diamond League and I'll reach out to some of the owners in the first one who expressed a desire to join a second one if we were able to form one. That could add to this impressive list. Stay tuned.

Thanks all. Here's the tentative list as of Thanksgiving:

NFBC DIamond League
Bellagio, Las Vegas
Saturday, March 23, 6 pm PT
1. Dan Kenyon & Andy Nolan
2. Mike Massotto
3. Scott Fleming
4. Scott Keikoan
5. John Lemke (tentative)
6. Chad Schroeder (tentative)
7. Glenn Schroter
8. Andy Robinson
