Greg - Post the first few rounds of the DC drafts

Post by BK METS » Sat Dec 01, 2012 11:41 pm

Hey Greg,

As you do every year, can you post the first few rounds of the DC drafts? I am in one and would love to compare as there must be a lot of variance between the drafts without an ADP.

Would be great.. thanks!

Yes, I'll post some early round results shortly and once we have 5+ leagues through the first 6 rounds then I'll do those as well. I need to make sure we have enough results so that nobody knows exactly which league those results are from.

I'm moving a little slow today because it was a fun day at Lambeau Field!!! But I'll be up-to-speed soon enough!!

Some interesting facts from these First Rounds with no ADPs to go from:

** Miguel Cabrera went 1st overall 3 times; Mike Trout went 1st twice. The top 3 are definitely established with those 2 guys plus Ryan Braun.

** Robinson Cano went 4th four times and 5th once. Andrew McCutchen went 4th the only other time. Matt Kemp went 5th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 10th. McCutchen went 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th.

** 20 different players went in the first round. Only going once were: Clayton Kershaw (11th), Evan Longoria (15th), Giancarlo Stanton (9th), Jose Bautista (15th), Troy Tulowitzki (13th).

** 2 starting pitchers went in the first round in 4 of 5 drafts (Strasburg and Verlander). Three SPs went in the first round in one league (with Kershaw). A catcher (Posey) and 2 SPs went in 3 of 5 leagues.

Only me... Its barely December, through 10 rounds, and I already have a guy on the DL (AROD). This is not a good sign.

Greg,

Will the NFBC ADPs be available this year, I don't see any link to them yet?

Thanks

Yes, they will appear once we have 5 finished drafts. They will update automatically once any draft is finished after that. You don't see any ADPs now because we don't have any completed drafts. These first drafts should be completed in 2 weeks or so. Enjoy.

From the six early drafts where Greg has posted the top six rounds, here is the "consensus" (what a funny word for high stakes fantasy baseball!) top 25:

LN FN P AVG
1 Cabrera Miguel 3B 1.5
2 Braun Ryan OF 1.8
3 Trout Mike OF 2.7
4 Cano Robinson 2B 4.3
5 McCutchen Andrew OF 5.5
6 Kemp Matt OF 6.5
7 Pujols Albert 1B 7.8
8 Votto Joey 1B 8.3
9 Gonzalez Carlos OF 11.3
10 Fielder Prince 1B 12.0
11 Hamilton Josh OF 13.8
12 Strasburg Stephen SP 14.3
13 Posey Buster C 14.5
14 Verlander Justin SP 14.5
15 Kershaw Clayton SP 14.7
16 Ramirez Hanley SS 15.5
17 Stanton Giancarlo OF 16.3
18 Tulowitzki Troy SS 16.8
19 Longoria Evan 3B 17.8
20 Beltre Adrian 3B 19.5
21 Bautista Jose OF 21.7
22 Wright David 3B 22.7
23 Upton Justin OF 24.5
24 Kinsler Ian 2B 25.3
25 Reyes Jose SS 25.7
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Thanks for those numbers. Very interesting. Tulo and Longoria still getting a lot of love, despite the injuries. Strasburg #12 along with Verlander and Kershaw in the top 15. This will probably be the first year in a long time that will not have a shortstop in the top 15 ADP.
