3rd Annual $1000 SLOW DRAFT

Post by Winston's Empire » Fri Dec 14, 2012 1:10 pm

Well, here we go again for the NFBC 1000 SLOW DRAFT! All things will stay the same this year, but Gaetan is going to kinda take my spot and head it up for 2013. I am pulling back quite a bit this year on my fantasy baseball commitments due to time and am only doing 1 or 2 Smaller Slows and the NFBC Keeper League. I plan on jumping back into the mix for the 1000 Slow again next year, but just don't have time to study now or follow my teams during the year as I wish I could.
Anyways, here is the list as it stands and Gaetan will take it from here!

3rd Annual NFBC $1,000 SLOW Draft Owners List (All 2012 Owners will get first chance at their spots for 2013)
Starts On Feb. 18, Noon ET
50 Rounds, 8 hours per pick, 15 teams, Pay Top 3
1. Mike Massotto, Caldwell, New Jersey (2011 CHAMP)
2. Gaetan Lavoie
3. Greg Doyle
4. Marc Perlmutter
5. Jon Stadtmueller
6. Dave Potts
7. Dave Borysiak
8. Matt Anderson
9. Ralph Ehrman
10. Andy Robinson
11. Jim Christie
12. Kris Carroll
13. Bruce Bevacqua
14. Max Ogden
15. Glenn Lowy

I'll contact all of last year's participants early next week to see if they will return, but we already added one new person in Dave Borsyiak. If anyone from last year's league wants to retain their spot for this season, just email me at [email protected]. Thanks all.

Hi gentlemen
Big shoes to take over as Max was a great leader and will be missed for a year (he promised me not more then one). All that said, I need the veterans of this draft to confirm their participation as soon as possible. This will be an excellent "practice" for the upcoming Main, Super, Ultimate and Diamond (which ever is your flavor). This draft has an excellent timing as it will be finalized before March 23 and most Major league rosters will be known, the free agents will be signed and all. So please advise Greg if you are back or not. Thanks Greg for your help.

Btw, I would take it very personnel if any veterans would not comeback this year and Vegas could turn out very nasty

Back for a 3rd time. Color me in.

Do the recent events mean we need to change the name of the trophy? Maybe to something MTM-centric?

Agree... We should name it something else, maybe after the first ever 1000 Slow Champ MTM!
No different than the Lombardi Trophy in the NFL really, both amazing men who stand alone as Giants

There is no reason why we should change it from the "Max Pain 1000" Trophy or league. It's your brainchild, Max, not mine. I've got my own league that I have to babysit for already. ;) I do appreciate the gesture since I dominate this league as I will again do this coming year. If it wasn't for the devastating number of injuries I sustained down the stretch run to eventually knock me out of first place, I would have repeated as league champ. A tough thing to do against the level of competition in this league. So I do appreciate when I see that the competition is getting watered down a bit for 2013. :P

Happy to have you back, Max! Wouldn't be the same without your annual donation. Thanks! ;) Like how you updated the league sign up list, although I'd be careful about slapping the rookie label on some of the newbies. There are a few sharks lurking amongst them. :o  By the way, corresponded with Steve Jupinka today. He won't be coming back this year as he is still trying to figure out how to win these higher stakes competitons. Seriously, I'm sure a collective sigh of relief just went up from the rest of the league...

Thanks MTM, it feels good to be back, even though I never really missed a beat

Plus you guys are welcome for my annual donation to this awesome league... If anybody can spot a guy donating to a league he runs, it would be you... just at a much more pricey level :o

In all seriousness, its great to see the league almost filled for the 3rd straight year with a few new faces and we will see who wants to jump in fill this league out! A lot of great SLOW DRAFT owners out there who can give you a run for your money MTM, even if you do use your normal strategy - Draft from the 15 Spot and wait until at least the 24th round before grabbing your first pitcher ;)
