From Penn Station, which line is it that I take to get to the Hilton?
I'm driving to Metropark and taking the New Jersey Transit into the city. I did this last year and it was relatively painless. Of course, the drugs helped the pain.

viper, whatever you do, don't take the bus -- that's a disaster waiting to happen. Take a taxi from Penn Station, or if you're feeling cheap, follow these directions:
Take the UPTOWN 1 or 9 train (white number in a red circle on all the signs, if that helps) TWO STOPS to 50th Street. When you exit the train, you'll need to walk up a flight of stairs to leave the station. At that point, you'll be on 50th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue. Walk straight ahead (east) to 6th Avenue, just over a block away. When you get to 6th Avenue, turn left, and walk 3 blocks. You'll see the Hilton there.
Hope this helps...

What about the "E" line. I found an old post from last year that suggested this. Off at like 52nd or so. I just can't recall which line I took last year but it was easy.
A bus is not an option.

I always forget about the E train, but yes, it is a (slightly) better option. It's the 7th Avenue station you want, which lets you off at 53rd Street. A little closer than taking the 1/9...
It's three stops from Penn Station with the E train -- 42nd Street Port Authority, then 50th Street, then 7th Avenue.
