SOLD OUT: 12-Team NFBC Super League

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Dec 28, 2012 10:59 am

I've had a couple of owners inquire about the possibility of a 12-Team Super or Ultimate League with similar payout percentages as the 15-Team contests. I'm all for adding these live in Las Vegas if we can find a time to make these work. Friday night is a possibility if folks would like to do these at 7 pm PT. Thursday night at 7 pm PT if folks don't mind drafting during the NCAA Viewing Party. I'm open to suggestions and will add it if the demand is there.

It's already a busy weekend, but I do think there is interest in more 12-team live events. Just say the word and we'll get it done. Thanks all.

Okay, this event has been finalized. Now here is the current signup list:

NFBC 12-Team Super League
Friday, March 22, 8 pm PT
Bellagio, Las Vegas
1. Joe Berg
2. Bob Particelli
3. Gaetan Lavoie
4. Mike Massotto
5. Matthew Shepherd
6. Stephen Jupinka
7. Shane Schroeder, Fort Collins, Colorado
8. Donn Johnson
9. Chad Schroeder
10. Glenn Lowy
11. Jeff Dobies/Ante Meich
12. Tom Zarogiannos

Greg,

How about "Midnight Madness" that Thursday night after the games are over?

I would be open to any time as I have limited mental capacity to juggle multiple teams, therefore I have more room in my schedule than most. :D The point being is that many of the high dollar players have very full schedules that first weekend. I propose doing this the second weekend with a live / online option for those that have already left Vegas.

I will participate at any price level at any time. If you would like to nail down a time and create a sign up list you can start it with me. I think you would fill one of these in no time. 8-)

Thanks Greg.

Again, I'm game if demand warrants it on either weekend. We can definitely do this on Saturday, March 30th in the afternoon if folks are able to swing it. We can also do it like Jeff says on Thursday, March 21st at 9 pm PT if folks can stay awake for the next 3 hours. I'm flexible.

Let's see if there's demand for this and make it happen. I'll await for more feedback and then start up a signup thread. Let's also make sure we keep the demand for the NFBC XII throughout all of this, but I'm excited about this format if demand is there. Thanks for the early input.

I would be in for Friday night Ultimate. Thursday would be tough.

This does seem like it has the best potential, maybe starting at 7, 8 or 9 pm. It could be a marquee Friday night event each year. I like it.

Let's try to fit Friday night, March 22nd around some 12-Team Supers and/or Ultimate Leagues, starting at 8 or 9 pm PT. This will allow folks to do 1 pm and 4 pm NFBC XII's and/or auctions and still do this one. Hopefully that's not too late of a start for anyone, but this is Las Vegas after all!!

Stephen Jupinka is interested in a 12-team Friday night league, so let's add him to the list along with Jeff Dobies, Joe Berg and Bob Particelli. I have a feeling that a few more owners will jump in. Who's with us?

Greg,
Personally I'd prefer Thursday Super but if Friday is a go for most, I would do it. That as long as I can have some food in between the 4 pm NFBC XII and an 8pm Super. ;)
Go ahead, make my day...

Sounds good Gaetan. Yes, food and drink will be served at each live event, so no problems there. Let's keep the dialogue going here for Thursday and/or Friday night and then start a signup list shortly. I'll get these added to Registration once we have a plan in place, but something late Friday night certainly makes sense. I LIKE IT!!

I can't commit to something like this just yet, but considering I'll probably join a Friday XII, a XII/12-Team Super doubleheader on Friday does have a certain symmetry to it. :)

Nice work Joe, the squeaky wheel..... ;)

Friday night has a touch of appeal. Would consider.

Especially if Massotto signs on. Hey GLENN - if the Mouth jumps in it will open up some dead money for the both of us. Maybe even team up against him. At least them we won't take two of the three winning spots away from his weak playing ass. ;)

My money sez he still won't cash.

Now were talking!! Looks like a pretty impressive group, some tentative, some not, but still impressive none the less.

Greg, looks like the makings of a nice start to the list. I've never drafted "Live" in Vegas in the Evening. I'll have to be on my best behavior all afternoon. ;)

Agreed. I think it's almost time to start the signup list and get this one officially started. I think we start with a 12-Team Super and if you folks say you want it as an Ultimate instead I'm game either way. I'm diggin' this.

Hey Governor Christie - if Lorraine agrees to let you out on Friday night, I say we jump into the 12 Team Super.
Check for permission and let me know.

Hey Sgt. Doughnut, I do an Auction at 4pm and the odds of it being over at 8p is pretty slim, right?

So, what your saying is that after the Auction you have to get back to Lorraine, or else. Got it.

Greg,

Can you start populating the lists? I think it will draw more attention as it fills. There are a number of players showing interest in this thread. It looks like this will be the "Hall of Fame" 12 team Event. It looks like fun on that Friday.

Thanks.

Looks like I have an opening in my schedule for Friday night. I would particularly like to shut up the likes of you, Sack and Dobies (and Lowy knows better than to start with me). But if I am going to be asked to participate in this event and given how I am such an attraction that as soon as my name goes on the list it will fill the league, Greg is going to have to compensate me. So I'm thinking if he covers my airfare and hotel room, I will jump in a Friday night 12-team Super. I was going to ask for a limo from the airport as well, but I will compromise a bit.   So as long as these terms are agreeable, you guys can count me in! 8-) You may now begin with your barrage of half-ass, witty responses.

Dear God.....yet another league that will become the MtM Invitational 12-Team Super Whatever Whatever Whatever.
Greg, I hear Mikey's put in a formal request to change your contest name to the MtMFBC.

Well Joe, the competition in this league was starting to look a little brutal there for a while. It just got a lot easier to play if a bit harder on the ears.

Re: 6 SPOTS LEFT For 12-Team NFBC Super League

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Jan 06, 2013 1:32 pm

Since Joe Berg fought so hard to get this format live in Las Vegas, we're going to honor him by calling it the Joe Berg Las Vegas 12-Team Super League. It doesn't have the ring of Mickey The Mouth New York Super League (aka MTM Super), but JB Las Vegas Super League works just fine!!

Joe is right, it's time to put names on paper and get this baby rolling. I need to officially add it to the Registration page, but let it be known that each year going forward this is going to be our Friday night marquee event. We'll start off with a 12-Team Super League and if demand warrants it this year or in future years we'll increase this to an Ultimate League and maybe one day even a 12-team Diamond League. I know Joe approves of all that!! :D

I know some of you folks are still tentative, so let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds. But it's time to see if we can fill this one up, so here's the opening signup list:

NFBC 12-Team Super League
Friday, March 22, 8 pm PT
Bellagio, Las Vegas
1. Joe Berg
2. Bob Particelli
3. Gaetan Lavoie
4. Jeff Dobies (tentative)
5. Glenn Lowy (tentative)
6. Stephen Jupinka

NFBC Hall of Famer Stephen Jupinka is a YES for this debut 12-team Super League, so be prepared. This is starting to look like a Who's Who's list of top players. Here's the current signup list:

NFBC 12-Team Super League
Friday, March 22, 8 pm PT
Bellagio, Las Vegas
1. Joe Berg
2. Bob Particelli
3. Gaetan Lavoie
4. Jeff Dobies (tentative)
5. Glenn Lowy (tentative)
6. Stephen Jupinka
7. Norm Kent
8. Chad Schroeder (tentative)
9. Mike Massotto (tentative)

Sorry MTM, I'm not a travel agent, just a game operator. You're on the list as tentative because I can barely pay for my own flight and hotel room, not to mention all 12 of you folks in this league!! 8-)
