be thankful BK, that's someone the Mutts would go 85-5 for!

Nah.. that was the old mentality. The new management has been doing some really good things... what they got for RA Dickey is going to prove to be huge, Wheeler for Beltran, signing Wright... They have the right idea now of how to build a team with young pitching. But, apparently they feel like an outfield is not necessary.

They were waiting for the price of Upton to go down and then if it didn't they would have relented and given Hairston his 2 year deal. Unfortunately Hairston signed hours before the Upton deal and it leaves the Mets in a real pickle for the OF. I'm not too concerned since their real window to compete is not now.

Seriously? Did you ever see the man play? I know I am a homey, but I HATED seeing Prado go. One of those "dirt" players who just belongs on the field with grass stains and brick dust everywhere.

Versatility (1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, broadcast booth, beer vender, cup check....whatever the team needs), great in the clubhouse, reliable, great #2 hitter, a little speed, a little power, .350 OBP, 40 doubles, 70 or fewer K's in 600 AB, 180 hits. Just a "put me in coach" kind of player. Arizona got a good deal.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Totally agree with EK, especially after hearing the Tim Hudson interview yesterday. Winning championships is more than just stats. The clubhouse presence, durability, and flexibility makes this a plus deal for Arizona. Putting the Upton's together in Atlanta should be a plus for them. I think it was a great deal for both teams.

I guess if you don't hit home runs, you aren't a good baseball player

Prime example of a not so great fantasy player (doesn't hit alot of homers or steal alot of bases), but excellent REAL player. I think Dan used the term PITA (pain in the ass)...as a Phillie fan this guy scared me w/ runners on as much as Chipper.

Not sure AZ has made such great decisions lately (should've got more for J-Up, Bauer deal), but this Prado deal is def. one of their better ones.
Always be closing.
