Gaetan, I just spoke with someone in this league and he said he wouldn't be able to start earlier than the 11th. So there does not appear to be a consensus within this league with regard to an earlier starting date. This is what Greg and I have been talking about. It's not as easy to switch a set date/time as some are making it out to be. I'll let Greg weigh in and he can certainly overrule me but I think for now we'll stick with the set starting date of Feb. 18. Again, that's the date everyone signed up for and it's the date the league has been set up for.
Tom,
That someone was Greg Doyle.
No it wasn't Gaetan. And this is exactly what Greg and I are talking about. There is the perception that everyone is on board with the same earlier date and time when that's clearly not the case. If all 15 owners can't agree to an earlier date and time then it makes no sense for us to change the scheduled date. Like Greg said, if you guys want to make us out to be the bad guys for setting the league up to start on the date everyone agreed to when they signed up then I guess we'll have to be the bad guys.
Jesus F-ing, Christ! Really?!  You're kidding me, right? I swear, I've seen thicker f-ing skin on an egg yolk...
We all agreed just fine, but obviously complex crap like this is just too much to coordinate...Once again, as far as I heard (and I heard from everyone), the 11th should be fine. But wtf do I know? I'm just a loudmouth trouble-maker...

Mike, it's really time for you to knock this off. I mean it. It's gone on WAY too long. Gaetan said he had been told everyone was in agreement to start the draft on the 9th. I'm not sure who told him that but it was clearly incorrect because I spoke to someone last night who said he could not start any earlier than the 11th. Gaetan then said the person I spoke to was Greg Doyle. I again corrected him to say it wasn't Greg Doyle. I had never spoken to Greg. So once again whoever was telling Gaetan that everyone in the league had agreed to something was giving him incorrect information. I simply wanted to make sure he was aware of that. That's it. There was no need for you to come in here and blast me and spin this situation further out of control with more of your vitriol. Trust me, we're all well aware what your feelings are here. You've bashed Greg and I left and right when neither of us have done anything wrong and enough is enough.

Greg reached out to everyone in the league today and I'll let him post the update tomorrow. But there's no further need for you to come in here and tell us we're a couple of idiots who can't walk and chew gum at the same time when all we're trying to do is make sense of all this and make sure EVERYONE in the league is on the same page and EVERYONE in this league is being taken care of properly, not just you. Got it? Good.

In keeping with our Down Boys theme.....

Tom, I know you say you've never spoken to Greg Doyle, but has ANYONE spoken to or heard from Greg Doyle since Gates' infamous post accusing him of being the one preventing us from starting on the 9th?? Rumor has it he was last seen walking nervously with a loud and very talkative dog carrying a shovel and ranting about Adlai Stephenson or egg yolks or something.

I'm not even sure how Greg Doyle got involved in this discussion and it certainly wasn't Tom who brought his name up. Greg WANTS to draft early, as does Mike and Gaetan. Most others were good with the 18th, but would move up to the 11th if needed. Unfortunately, as I emailed Max and Mike tonight, not everyone is on board with starting early. I've heard from almost everyone now and there are a few who want to start on the 18th as planned. It's what we heard originally and some want the later start time. Braun's latest discovery probably doesn't hurt that decision, either.

We're back on the 18th unless someone plans on killing those who delayed the fun. Now let's enjoy this league and continue with the tradition of many rounds per day and a lot of smack talking all season long. Thanks all.

And don't kill the messagers -- Tom and I -- we just polled the group and came back with the split results.

Guess you told me, Tom. No one told you or insinuated that you and Greg couldn't 'walk and chew gum at the same time' or that you were 'a couple of idiots.' Now who's blowing things out of proportion? Blasting and vitriol? Okay, if that's how you both read it, fine. You don't have to worry about me posting anything else to these boards. It's quite clear how this works. Keep your mouth shut, don't saying anything against the establishment, pay your money, send us as much business as possible, and you're a nice guy by us. We'll dish out, but we can't take it. You and Greg should know better. You have both met me and spoke with me multiple times, and I have been one your biggest advocates and supporters, both financial and otherwise. I have boundless enthusiasm and respect for this game, its competitors, and the friends that I have made over the years playing in it. But the fact that this whole situation spiraled out of control and got blown out of proportion had nothing to do with me. It wasn't even my suggestion in the first place, but being the guy that everyone wants to lead the charge on something, I'm the one who puts his ass out on the line all the time, and gets it handed to me as a result. So be it. So I'll spare you anymore of my horrible posts as I said, and be the bad little child who has been scolded to go his room now because of his 'bad parents'. So just leave it at this. You said your piece, and I said mine. If you have anything else to say to me, the way we do it in these parts among my folks is to do it man to man. So pick up the phone and call me if you feel the need to clear the air, blast me further, or whatever. You and Greg know how to reach me. Hope that clear. Got it? Thanks.

Hey Guys - Whats Up! Just checking in on the troops, since our draft is only 13 short days away!

Kinda wondering if Braun will fall to me at #4 now with this Miami PED Clinic cloud over his head! Just think guys, it might just be to risky to take him in the Top 3 now... I will be waiting, lets make that happen ;)

Greg Doyle here... just saw my name in this thread... the only thing I have done in regards to start date is respond to Mike M's email replying that the soonest that I could start is the 9th. Any other date after that is fine. Thanks....

Gentlemen,
So Feb 18 is now official, sorry to hear but thats the way it is. Just happy peace is back among us. I gotta to say that I was all good for Feb 18 up until work became insane. Consequently I had to move my week of vacation which created quite a rumble at home. Now the only time I can leave on vacation is around Feb 22 which you will understand is not the best for this draft.

All that said, I don't want to drop out of this great draft but I might be a pain for you all starting March 22nd. Not sure how fast I will be to make picks while being under the sun and not irritating my love one who has been soooooo patient with me with all these drafts I'm in. You know our girlfriends and wifes are amazing considering our craziness for this game. I know mine is...

If you guys can bare with me and my challenges, I'll stay in but if it becomes an issue, I'll drop out and leave my spot. Not bad feeling. Making 10 rounds a day from Feb 18 to Feb 21 would help tremendously...

Hey Gaetan,
I for one am perfectly fine with you making picks when you can! You have been in this league for 3 years now and have never missed a beat. When I almost gave up the reigns earlier this offseason for a year because of my schedule you stepped up to make sure the league kept going! This is a GREAT group of guys and a blast of a league and draft. Take the pressure off yourself and get ready to have a lot of fun on vacation and in the draft!
Talk to you soon all!

So were starting today right? Just kidding, just picking a bit!

PITCHERS & CATCHERS are here baby and the $1000 SLOW will be underway in less than 1 Week! This draft is always my toughest draft of the year because all of these great players have time to make their picks! I simply sit back and watch my picks disappear! :D

Study up boys, its gonna be fun!

I went in the draft room and set auto-one for my first pick. But, the little star is not showing up by my team name to indicate that it is working...If it does not pick for me, I suppose someone can send me a text in the morning (MtM has my #), and I'll get up and pick...Of course, the main benefit of not having a "real job" is that I do not have to be up at 6am on a Monday, but for you guys, I'll start the coffee early...If the auto-one works, then I'll see y'all at a more reasonable hour, around 10!
