Closer Runs

Yes, Closers were flying in NY1 as expected. I was happy to get Nathan in round4, and would have loved another later, but I refuse to take 2nd teir closer, and unproven closers in the middle rounds or erlier in some cases. As far as drafting "closers in waiting" before the 27-28th round ..That's crazy as far as I'm concerned. Watch the waiver wire..chances are when these teams need to replace a bat because of injury, performance, etc., the first guy they'll look to drop is that "closer in waiting" who's been rotting on their bench since draftday.

It would be hard to track, but I'd bet at least 1/2 the "closers in waiting" that actually end up getting saves, will be getting saves for a team other than the team that drafted them Saturday.

Hey Kevin and Rich - I was picking 10 in NY1 ... the closer run was incredible - I took Fuentes much earlier than I expected (and could regret it) ... Kevin - I took D Wright at 10 right before you (I was surprised he was there in a NY league). I like your Young/Rollins SS tandem. Rich - I agree with your closer in waiting comments ... Good luck!

It wasn't the first closer run that suprised me, that I expected. It was the 2nd closer run that took me by suprise. In Chgo 3, 6 teams had 2 closers before taking any SP. There were 2 other teams that took a SP first, but then took 3 closers, and all before the 10th round ended.

We'll see how it shakes out, but I have to believe that not letting the pressure of taking someone 3-4 rounds earlier than they are supposed to go was the right move.

Now it comes back!!! Tryin' to keep a Poker Face. The pick before me. Man!!! Young was my second choice. and Rollins might have been a bit early for a #2. Then when GIles was there in the 3rd I filled out my middle and created scacity for the rest of the teams.
