NOW ONLY 23 DAYS UNTIL MARCH MADNESS BEGINS!!

This would seem like the perfect place for a Michael Jordan photo, but I guess that's the wrong sport (even though he tried his hand here). Boys, let's see some appropriate photos to start the day!!

Sorry Greg....Jordan wore #45 while playing with the Birmingham Barons!

One of my favorite baseball players when I was a kid...Mr. Willie Horton!

Although I understand there was a minor Cubs player with #23 too? What was that guys name?

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Willie Horton was my favorite of all time.

Long before Gibson's Dodger World Series home run he had already made history. I was fortunate enough to be at the 84 series live. If you don't enjoy this clip, I don't know what to say.

Enjoy, it gets no better than this!!!

There are some great unknown players in the NFBC

They have never won the Overall.

They don't post on the message board.

They won't make the NFBC Hall of Fame.

Yet every season they quietly make their picks, play their game, and cash their checks come October.

Reminds me of a seemingly forgotten player that wore #23.

GREAT CHOICE WAYNE!! It's the last time we won a World Series title in Wisconsin: 1957. Back then we didn't need sausage races at the ballpark to bring in the fans, we had Spahn, Mathews and Aaron, and a whole lot more. Pretty cool.

OKAY, ONLY 21 DAYS UNTIL WE ALL CONVENE IN LAS VEGAS!! The official kickoff to the NFBC live events season is nearing. Are you ready to compete for all of this prize money? I sure hope so.

Let's get busy. :D

20 to go ..................

Last one..........
He wore number 20 with the Yankees, but I couldn't find a good photo of him in that jersey that wouldn't give away the answer.
He also played with the Mets among other teams.
He was part of one of the worst trades in baseball history.
He still doesn't know why he's here..........

Who is he?

The first 19 that comes to mind...Bob Feller! Doughboys taught him everything he knew! Kind of took the kid under his arm!

And for the Brew Crew!

NOW we know where Greg gets his facial hair ideas!

It's been a lot of fun being on the other side of the table this year and getting to check out what you guys come up with for this thread each day. Wayne, Russell, and a few others have done a great job doing the heavy lifting this season. Nicely done guys.

However if I can make one suggestion, in past years those who checked out this thread seemed to clamor for a bit more representation from America's Team. So I'll help out here with a blast from the glory days. ;) :P

Image

Keep up the great work guys. I check out this thread every morning and it never ceases to start my day off right.
Only 18 days, can not wait.

They fired me already Juprinka. They said it was because of your comment on my stuff not being interesting anymore without the obligatory pics. :)

All joking aside, my next article posts tomorrow. BHQ originally had a bit more of an agressive schedule for me, but I asked them to cut it down a bit. I can't think of that many things to write about without pictures. :)
Thanks for the interest my friend.

By the way, missed you at First Pitch yesterday. Magner and the Ice Cream Man were there but no Juprinka or MtM this year.
Didn't feel the same.

I guess the one good thing about you not being there is that there's one prep tool I'll have over you for once. :D

Just a little over two weeks 'til Vegas Bud. See you there.

Two Mets in one post? Russ is really getting the hang of this thing (even if he had to mar it a bit with a Cubbie). :)

Now #16 should be an easy one Russ. Let's do the right thing here. ;)
