Featured on Tampa Bay news, here is the news story of the one and only Mia Martin, daughter of our own Roger Martin. When I met the Martins out in Vegas, I teared up immediately and found it hard to even say two words without becoming emotional. Having 3 young boys and imagining the circumstances of what Mia had to go through, its such a blessing that this story has a happy ending.

Re: The Mia Story - News video
Thanks for posting this Alan. I had the same reaction when meeting the Martin's.
Whoever coined the phrase, 'All's well that ends well' never had to go through the emotional rollercoaster that the Martin's had to endure. Still, the happy ending is what makes this story so wonderful.

Roger, I'm very glad it turned out well. You are right, things like this make you look at things differently. My nephew is going through radiation. They found a tumor in his brain, pressed up against his pituitary gland. Next day, he was sent to Duke medical center, where doctor confirmed and scheduled surgery for next day. They knew they wouldnt get it all removed because of where it wad. They got 25% & he is going through radiation. He has one week left.
I drove from NJ to NC the night before his surgery to see him, getting there in the morning. When I walked in, i went to the desk, where 3 receptionists were. 2 were helping and 1 was finishing up something. I was next in line, trying to find where exactly my nephew was to see him before they took him back for surgery. While waiting, a little girl, about 3 or 4, walked up to the receptionist who was finishing up something. The receptionist said, hello sweeheart, how are you? The little girl answered, good, im here to see doctor (whatever his/her name was).
I dont think I will ever forget that. This little kid, in the oncology area, seeing it as normal...so sad.
I stayed for four days and saw a few other kids who had their heads operated on. In all of them, it seemed harder on their parents. I know it has been hard on my brother and sister, as well as rest of family. I'm sorry you had to go through it, but happy it turned out well.

Thanks Roger. Was a pleasure meeting you in Vegas. Mia is a sweetie. You've got a precious gift there...you're spot-on about making sure you take care of the little things like goodnight kisses. God Bless, amigo!
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
