now that the excitement of Opening Day is waning, I'm now entering the annual period where I wonder why I'm playing this silly game

Depending on the need.....not crazy in my opinion. There is no doubt about Herrera's skills and now if he has opportunity....could be 35 saves with plus ks and ratios. I bid in the low 200s and missed in a couple spots.

im thinking that aaron crow would be a smarter fix for the royals. i dont see them going anywhere this year unless starters 2-5 come through and their young hitters hit. so if you remove holland i would insert crow. he is signed only through this year, has a good arm and could have nice trade value at the break.

you can use herrera, who some argue is better, in more situations. closers only come in up by 3 runs or less but set up guys can have huge influences in games which the team is tied or down by a run or two. so why not use a better pitcher more often while trying to build up some trade value. heck if they hang tight they could be even adding final pieces to the puzzle for the stretch run when they deal a holland or crow.

ps herrera has thrown 2 games in a row and 3 out of the last 4 so if the royals get a save opp tonight it sure will be interesting to see who comes out. that person if they get the job done might have all the momentum they need to keep the job in the short term.

I don't have Holland, but this isn't a Marmol situation. Holland has great stuff and my guess is they will stick with him for a while. I wouldn't spend real money on a backup Royals closer.

Crow on the mound for a save...but it could be the fact that Herrera and Holland have put in alot of work recently...more to come

totally agree, i picked up Herrera for his peripherals and to occupy a pitching roster spot. so far this year, 3.1 ip, 0.0 era, 0.6 whip, 7K's, 1 save.

Fourteen pitches, three K's including two looking today. And against the heart of the Bravo's line-up. Hated to see the Braves lose (the fantasy players conundrum), but enjoyed getting the rare save.

Pretty clear that Holland is the closer.
