The injuries are starting to add up and we're not even two full weeks into the MLB regular season. Last night it was Jose Reyes suffering a serious ankle injury and now it's new Cubs' closer Kyuji Fujikawa landing on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right forearm. He suffered the injury in yesterday's blown save against the Giants.
Interestingly, the Cubs say that Carlos Marmol is not in line for the closer's job. If you saw his efforts last week, you can understand why. In line now for saves are James Russell and Shawn Camp, but how long will that last? Saves are tough to find, so the waiver wire should be interesting this week. Good luck figuring out this situation this week.
Thoughts on the Cubs' situation?

Have been considering options for my post-military career. Think I just found a new opportunity. Wonder if the Cubs would give a junk-baller with a 65mph fastball a shot? Doubt I could be worse than the guys they've put out there
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Not much to choose from between Russell and Camp but I'd put my money on Russell. He's 10 years younger than Camp (27 vs 37), has some strikeout ability and has had some success at getting out batters from both sides of the plate. Just a shot in the dark here but Boras has been looking for a home for K-Rod all spring. Could this be the spot for him to land in? Maybe, just maybe......strangers things have happened. But under this year's FAAB rules he'd have to appear in at least 1 game in order to be in the FA pool which means that you can't make a speculative bid on him in the NFBC.

Hey Dan, best of luck with your transistion back to the world of us peasants. Congrats on a great military career and thank you for all you've done. I hope you have your retirement party of baseball, hot dogs, and apple pies are all lined up!MadCow Sez wrote:Have been considering options for my post-military career.
