Percentage Owned Question
Percentage Owned Question
Chris Archer was picked up in 16 main event leagues yesterday according to Greg's e-mail this morning. I had already owned him in two main event leagues before that. That means he is owned in at least 18 out of 29 main event leagues. That's a percentage of 62.1. The player movement tab this morning and my roster (for my main event league) both show a % owned of 38.9. That means the 38.9% is current. What is the discrepancy? If it includes diamonds, other events, etc., it seems he was picked up in many of those too. What events are included in the percentage owned in the player movement tab and my roster for my main event. Thanks.

Re: Percentage Owned Question
I assume it's for all NFBC events.

Re: Percentage Owned Question
I also own Chris Archer in my $250 satellite. There the % owned in my roster is 30.2% which is different than the player movement tab. The % owned for the draft championship leagues are definitely not included because there the % owned for even little owned players is much higher than in the main event. Thanks I was just curious.

Re: Percentage Owned Question
I'm not positive on this, so please don't quote me, but I don't believe percentages owned updates until Monday night when we are able to pick up free agents again.
Re: Percentage Owned Question
I've always been curious about this so I did a little checking.
Based on the percentages I've seen, 99.3% seems to be the highest and 0.7% seems to be the lowest (not including 0 and 100%). So I think the number of leagues we are looking for is between 150 and 153 (based on the 2nd lowest percentage needs to round to 1.3%). The number of leagues in the following competitions are as follows.
95 - Online Championship
29 - Main Event
19 - NFBC XII
9 - Auction Championship
Totaling these up you get 152. Seems like these are leagues that percentages are calculated from for the Owned% and the Active%. I did these calculations real quickly while on a break at work so please check my numbers. Anybody have any other ideas?

Re: Percentage Owned Question
Jvetter,
I am not in any 12 team leagues this year so I can't check, but I always thought the 12 team leagues will have different percentage owned on your roster page. Many players are just less owned in these leagues.
If in the main event percentage owned on roster pages, if 12 team data is included, I'd be surprised. If I look at a roster in my main event and see someone is thirty percent owned, I take some solace when I drop him. I know I shouldn't base my decision on that. But it enters the equation. If others don't want him, why should I. If that percentage includes data from all leagues, 12 and 15, that would be something I didn't know and and I've been doing this a long time.

I am not in any 12 team leagues either. But based on the numbers I came up with, I couldn't figure out how it could only include 15 team leagues even if Satellites were included.lrr wrote:Jvetter,

Here's all the league numbers that I was able to count.
15 Team Leagues:
Satellite Leagues (15) - 39
Main Event - 29
Auction Championship - 9
Ultimate Auction - 2
Ultimate Draft -1
Super - 4
Diamond - 2
Private Leagues - 4
TOTAL - 90
12 Team Leagues:
Online Championship -95
Satellites (12) - 29
XII - 19
AL Auction - 1
NL Auction - 1
TOTAL - 145
10 Team Leagues:
Satellites (10) - 14
Unless I am miscounting, if it was only 15 team leagues, than the lowest percentage we should see for Owned%/Active% is 1/90 = 1.11%.
I do agree that it would make sense to separate out the 15 and 12 team leagues, but I don't think that is what is currently being done.

jv,
I've always been curious as to what the player pool consisted of as well. Thanks for coming up with a possible answer.
If you are correct, as you suggest, there looks like there may be two types of leagues that are presently pooled together, that could and should have there own baseline or player pool, 12-and 15- team leagues.
In any case, if nothing else, the the current pool of players used in the %owned and %started data and the leagues that they are derived from should be confirmed and posted. I have a hunch you are right on the 152 leagues listed above.
Thanks again for thinking about it and coming up with a possible answer to a question many of us have wondered about.

Maybe the posted percentages are only guesstimates...
They just love to mess with our heads, so it wouldn't surprise me.
