A Little Change...

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Thu Jun 13, 2013 11:12 am

I know a lot of folks think of me as a Dorito eating, fantasy buzz word hating, NFBC playing, guy on the Message Boards with way too much time on his hands.
I'm not.
Well I am a Doritos eater.
And, I do hate fantasy buzz words.
And I do so love playing in the NFBC.
And equally like playing on the Message Boards.
But, I do not have a lot of time on my hands.

I've prioritized being on the NFBC Boards higher than most. I've preached to everybody near me; Draft who you like, DO what you like, have a job that you like.
I like being on these Boards. I even like painstakingly looking up weird stats to share or coming up with weird stuff just to see a reaction.
I like it.
Sometimes with friends or family, they'll rib me that my fantasy life is more important than them.
They know better.
I think.

I get asked by these same friends and family and even by some of you reading this, why I devote so much time to the Boards.
I get nothing out of it monetarily.
My ego doesn't need fed. I can be wrong here, there, everywhere.
I do it, because I like it.

Some things happen in life though. I've come to a time where I may have to change priorities a bit.
To tell the truth, I don't know yet how things will change in how much time can be devoted to the Boards, but I am guessing that it will be less very soon.
And I know a few of you like this little corner of the world as much as I've enjoyed being here.
It is for you that I give a heads up.
I'll still try to make this as much of a 'daily column' as possible. But, I say that, knowing I will fall short.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Just because a person writes a lot, it doesn't make them smart.
Take me, for instance....

Dan,

I am one of your biggest fans and your blogs are a daily event for me with time and duties permit. I know I tease you but I think you know that comes from genuine admiration. Whatever time you can give to these boards is appreciated and valued. We all do what we have to do in the world and fantasy baseball is but a distraction, but without fear of contradiction you are heart of these boards and the primo attraction.

Give us what you can and we will gladly take all you can give.

Your friend.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Perhaps we should put this up for a vote. I'd say it's 3-0 against right now. Sorry Doughy, looks like you'll just have to figure out how to make the time. :D

Thanks for the heads-up, but this sounds like bad news for us. Can't say you owe any of us daily posts, but we'll take and appreciate whatever you can do. I hope life changes again such that you can devote whatever time you want to the boards.
