Paula Dean and the 'N' Word

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Fri Jul 05, 2013 12:26 pm

I have grown to despise the press. It is not enough in America to report news, the press wants to be the one's that Make news.
This Paula Dean thing has been blown WAYYYY out of proportion. Here's a lady from the south that just enjoys making good food.
Who cares what she does with her personal life?

It's apparent to me that Paula Dean loves fantasy baseball. And I, for one, am sick of the press throwing it in her face.
So what if she's an unabashed Braves fan like Edward's King's?
We haven't held that against him.
We all have faults.
Both like to read Ron Shandler and his Forecaster. They talk about it all the time.
So what?
It is their right.

When I read that she used the 'N' word, I thought to myself, 'Self! So what?'
I use the N word all the time. I've used it shortly since coming on these Boards and will continue to use it.
Some of my best friends are the 'N' word.
Have we gotten so politically correct that we can't even say the 'N' word anymore?

Well, I don't give a rat's patoot.
I'm saying it right here-
NUMERISH!
There!
Ha!
That one is for you, Paula!

We can't let guys like Zola, Shandler, etc hide from who they are!
Come out of the closet, Boys!!!
Be proud of who you are!
Don't let the American press take away your identity while they tear down an erstwhile fantasy player like Paula Dean!

It's silly, but the Numerish have been called a few other 'N' words before settling on Numerish.
Or at least, I thought they had settled on Numerish.
They didn't like 'Number's Guy's' because it put them in a box.
They didn't like 'Nerds', because it put them on even plain with with Trekkies and pocket protector fellas.
They didn't like' Nimrod' because, well, nobody likes to be called a nimrod, or even knows what it is.

The way things are going, Quakers will become the 'Q' word.
Sabrmeticians will become the 'S' word.
America has to lighten up! Especially the press.
These folks exist. They have to be given a name if different from the rest of us.
Fantasy baseball has survived most attacks in calling our hobby, gambling. But this came out of left field.
They are attacking our hobby by way of a group in our hobby.
Low.

So, the mighty press defend's the Numerish honor.
I think it's a damned shame that folks like Todd and Ron have to hide under the press skirts.
If you didn't like Paula referring to you as the Numerish that you are, then be man enough to stand up to her!
On your own!
Till then, her employment, endorsements, and failing fantasy squad will be something you'll have to live with for the rest of your lives.
May God have mercy on your souls.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Archimedes,
Grant me the wisdom accept that some numbers will not help my analysis;
The courage to analyze the numbers that will; and
The wisdom to know the difference.

"Ummm...hi...I am Wayne...and I like numbers...it has been four hours since I updated an excel spreadsheet!"

"Hi Wayne!"
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Paula admits using the "N" word and no one is hurt and her world is destroyed. The Obama administration destroys freedom and the right to privacy for everyone and illegally persecutes half the population and denies it their civil rights and there is no outrage. This is a dangerous time for anyone who has children or grandchildren.

Agreed. In General most people have no idea how bad it is, especially for people under 30. Thier future is being stolen from them and no one seems to care. Like Fantasy, the numbers never lie, 14 Trillion shortfall in SS, 48 Trillion Shortfall in Medicare and almost 18 Trillion Deficit- so roughly 80 Trillion owed and all in the next 20-30 years or so. I've seen projections where these 3 components will pass 100 Trillion by 2020 and 150 trillion by 2035. IMO our economic system as we know it, will not make it much past 2020 before it implodes... And we think we have problems now....

The only way the debt ever gets paid is by the dollar losing most of it's purchasing power. The numbers really are scary.

Re: Paula Dean....reminds me a lot of the Don Imus situation back in 2007. The media just kept piling on until he lost a good number of his advertisers. Read: gutless corporate America. Then he was fired. Same thing here, I'm not saying Paula's comments were right, or Imus', but enough is enough from the media.
