Any comments now on Tampa league 3? You know, that league with all the rookies. The league that lacked the big names.
They're in 1st place in the league standings. One of their members is in 1st place overall.
I know it's early and all, but with all the preseason bashing this league got, I think it's worth a mention.
Cindy, you out there? What place are you in?
Thanks

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I have Miami Mac at even money to win Tampa 3.
Wayne...your wife called and said something about cutting off your $1250 allowance. I'm not sure what she meant.

Congrats on getting out of the gate well, but lets not get crazy. It's been less than 2 weeks, the standings are insignificant at this point. Mr. Zola should still run away with that league IMO.

Obviously too early to reach any conclusions, but today's standings have ALL 3 of the Tampa Leagues as the Top 3 Overall (2-3-1), ahead of the "Other" 19 Leagues.

Someone else will have to do that this year- when you have one of the worst starts in this contest you need to keep your mouth shut and try to fix the problem.

...and good luck! It is early with PLENTY of time to bounce back...at least that is what I am telling myself about my pitching staff!

Uhm guys, there is a theory out there that the easier a league (ie it's competitors), they easier it is be successful. I think that was the point of the original TB3 bashing.
Knuckleheads.

Uhm...then how would you explain whole leagues cumulative points leading the rest? We are not just talking about individual contributors taking advantage of poor newbies to pad their scores. The three Tampa Leagues as a whole are currently (and admittedly early) Top 3 Overall (2-3-1).
Just one knuckleheads opinion...

And before some rebuffs (too late) that the TB 3 League is in first: 1) we're 1.5 weeks into this, and 2) there is a difference between stacking the cumulative points of the managers in each league and stacking the cumulative stats of each league and then divving up the points (ie 22 per cat). For example, a really tight league from 1 to 15 may not score well overall with the initial (and website) model, yet still may have more cumulative stats (ie HRs, RBIs, etc) as compared with other Leagues. There are differences - CH4 last year is the best example.
IMHO, the latter is a more indicative idea as to the quality of a league.

It sounds likethe Tampa Leagues must finish in the middle of the pack in order to get any respect. If we finish to low, we were newbies who should not have been in the game. If any finish too high, a few crafty vets sprinkled in among the lambs had an unfair advantage on all of the exceptional fantasy talent in NY/CHI/LV.
Well, we will just have to agree that it is early. We will see if it all plays out in the end.
Having drafted in Vegas and Chicago before, in my own humble opinion, the quality of the owners in Tampa appeared to be as knowledgable and savvy on a whole as what I encountered before. I enjoyed my draft there and look forward to having 24 1/2 more weeks of fun and good natured ribbing....Tampa Uber Alles!

As winner of Ch League 4 last year, I tend to agree with NYDU. We were the lowest seeded league winner of all 20 leagues. If we weren't in the toughest league, it sure was close. I think every team called 1st place theirs at least once last season. We didn't see it until the very end and we were lucky to hold on. Even teams near the bottom never gave up and continued faabing and changing lineups until the very end.
IMO, the tougher the league the closer all teams are in points to each other with the top team being closer to the mean of his/her league than the overall leader.

In all honestly I think there are just far too many moving variables to clearly differentiate one league from being any better than another. But with that said, I think it's always prudent to ensure there is a good mix of both rookies and seasoned vets in all leagues. It just makes common sense.
I'll admit some rookie teams in my league (NY3), arguably one of the most competitive based on past performances, had some good drafts. But on the other hand, a few had some really HORRIBLE ones as well (ie Counsell in the 9th Rd). And one really tripped up on their first go around with the FAAB process (ie approx $600 on 2 players with no competing bids). After a year's experience, you don't make those kind of mistakes. This is the Major Leagues when it comes to Fantasy Baseball!!!

Coops, I did an analysis a while ago on last year's finishes (it's somewhere on the MB) and CHC4 had the top cumulative stats when ranking 20 to 1 for all 10 categories or most improved when compared to the website where you guys were right around the middle when stacking each manager's point finishes. What that told me was that the best available players were all playing rather than sitting on some reallly good manager's bench because he was already stacked with better players.
