First, I'd like to know how a Brewers fan can call Jean Segura, 'Jose' and keep his Brewers fan membership card. :D

Second, this would be a swell place to draft Dustin Pedroia. Playing with a weakened thumb that has effected his power, he is still putting up rbi numbers that hr brutes would be proud of.
His .316/57/6/56/13 numbers over the first half only make his owners think what could have been with an off season of full thumb recovery.

Third, I also thought about teammate Jacoby Ellsbury. But Ellsbury will be testing free agent waters and his landing place could affect his numbers for next year.

Dustin Pedroia.
On my tombstone-

I was about to post Ellsbury. With his power zapped (and taken into consideration) the new home will not affect his number to much. I'd opt for Ellsbury here.

Every other year he wows us with a MVP performance. 2014 is the next "other" year.

Still young, he gets full time ABs for a catcher as he fills in at 1b and occasional DH cleanup hitter.

I have to go with Buster Posey here.

Looking over this list, I think the 2014 draft is deeper than the 2013 draft in the first two rounds. Newcomers with strong credentials are pushing there way in. Posey falling so far is one indication, as players like Chris Davis, Goldschmidt, Puig, Kipnis, Machado, Segura, Darvish, Gomez, Harvey and D Brown have forced him down...its not like Buster's skill set has fallen off, its that all these others have been demonstrating their improved skill sets.

I think there's one spot left. If so, it should go to Starling Marte, like Carlos Gomez, another 20-50 possibility this season.

My guess is that if you're sitting in the back end of Round 2 and Verlander and Strasburg are on the board, they will be taken.

So what did the SiriusXM folks think of our NFBC Top 30 list for 2014? We put the 1st Round on our Facebook page and we got dozens of responses on Tuesday night. Nobody was thrilled with Chris Davis going third overall and that prompted the most criticism. Yasiel Puig going 12th overall also generated negative responses, although one person said he could see him going in the Top 10 and maybe even Top 5 if he has a strong second half.

Overall it was a good segment and a lot of fun. It even got folks talking baseball during the All-Star Game. Great fun and thanks for helping on this list. We'll look back in November to see how our predictions pan out.

Not surprising, I'd agree those picks could change as we see how those two perform over the next 3 months. There have been a lot of one-half wonders over the years. If Davis and Puig can maintain even 70% of H1 production, they're solid top 10.

I thought the other questionable pick was Braun at #9. ;) I don't think anyone that drafted him this year is remotely happy, and he hasn't even been suspended yet.

This years final ADP below. One could say there about 12 underperformers so far this year. Based on the XM possible 1st round draft for next year, there would be 12 new names to the top 30. In - Puig, Kipnis, Goldscmidt, Davis, Marte, Harvey, Machado, Segura, Brown, Ellsbury, Ramirez, Darvish.

Out- Kemp, Kinsler, Pujols, Tulo, Strasburg, Verlander, Heyward, Reyes, Price, Stanton, Buatista, Upton

Pretty big turnover. Potential players who could get back in the top 30- Verlander, Price, Stanton, Tulo? anyone else?

As KJ said, Bruan, in spite of not being suspended, has not produced. He's not running anymore, power seems down and all his peripherals are going in the wrong direction. Bruan and Kemp will be the big wild cards next drafting season, if Bruan is not suspended.

#1 Miguel Cabrera
#2 Mike Trout
#3 Ryan Braun
#4 Robinson Cano
#5 Matt Kemp
#6 Andrew McCutchen
#7 Joey Votto
#8 Albert Pujols
#9 Carlos Gonzalez
#10 Prince Fielder
#11 Troy Tulowitzki
#12 Giancarlo Stanton
#13 Justin Verlander
#14 Stephen Strasburg
#15 Clayton Kershaw
#16 Josh Hamilton
#17 Buster Posey
#18 Jose Bautista
#19 Justin Upton
#20 Bryce Harper
#21 Evan Longoria
#22 Jose Reyes
#23 Adrian Beltre
#24 Jason Heyward
#25 Dustin Pedroia
#26 David Wright
#27 David Price
#28 Edwin Encarnacion
#29 Adam Jones
#30 Ian Kinsler

Why Stanton ? Did he get traded?
Besides Pujols, he may be the largest longshot.
Heyward, Upton, Stanton, and Pujols are not even a thought for me in the top 30.

At the risk of sounding ridiculous given the way this year has gone, I think if Kemp finishes strong and healthy, he will be back in the second round. Clearly, his shoulder injury has hurt this year. But, if the power returns, and he gets another 6-9 months removed from shoulder surgery, he could become tempting. Let's face it - a healthy Kemp has Top 5 (or thereabouts) talent (and can contribute in five categories). The question is will we ever see it again? Is he to be an annual health risk a la Tulo? No matter what happens this year, he no longer has first round status, but a healthy and productive second half gets Kemp back in the second round IMO.

ah... Well, I think with all the youth Miami has coming, Yelitch, Marisinak or however you spell his name, thier lineup could get quite good, quite fast, and Stanton is very young. If he stays healthy and with some protection I included him in my list of possible players to get back in the top 30.

All due respect ,not sure how you can say that considering one has to question whether his stats prior to this year have been tainted ,not saying they are, but the question has to be taken into account. There are those that will say the PEDs had no effect on his production and those who will see his stats as PED inflated.

i'd take him 7th, ahead of Wright and Votto on the list we came up with... That uncertainty is worth five spots to me.

Keep Dreaming Knuclehead....His stats this year will be the best you see of him off PEDs, if that. they got him using back to 07/08 time frame.
